A note on vsync and nvidia cards with twinview
Just thought I'd pass a note along.
I only have a single pc in my condo, so it multitasks as sage and our everyday pc. And it's running quite well with ubuntu 8.04. Every once in a blue moon sage gives a spinning circle of death when browsing something in the ui and I have to restart the server but it's rare at least, and the wife likes it. Anyway. I have twinview enabled and a lcd monitor on DFP-0 and a samsung hdtv on DFP-1. I have to use opengl=true with the miniclient and this option makes it vsync to the samsung: export __GL_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1 exec sage/client/sageclient.sh -fullscreen localhost the nvidia-settings utility doesn't expose that option (for opengl), I had to search a bit to find that variable so I hope it helps someone else have smooth tear free pictures My System: Core 2 Duo, Nvidia 7600, HVR-500, HVR-1800 for QAM, Samsung LN40A450, Ati Remote Wonder RF Remote (best hardware ATI ever made Last edited by kambo; 07-28-2008 at 06:42 PM. |
