Anyone using one of these MBs? They are nVidia 9000 series GPU MB. Intel based.

GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H
ASUS P5N7A-VM
ZOTAC GF9300-A-E

I'm leaning toward the Gigabyte MB. The nVidia 9000 series GPUs have the Purevideo HD support for HD-OTA and BD DVDs.

starflight you would be better off with something like this which has 2 1x PCIe slot
Intel BOXDG35EC
Intel BOXDQ45CB
Intel BOXDG45ID
I'm not fan of anything made by ASUS nor ECS any way
ECS G43T-M
ASUS P5Q-VM, ASUS P5E-VM, ASUS P5Q-EM

It's in my sig., but both that have 2250's and Intel Pro NICs are GA-MA69VM-S2, which are AMD 690 chip set based. It really shouldn't matter, as the whole idea behind PCI-e was to make the interface the same. Any 1x device should work in ANY 16x slot. Could if maybe be a 2.0 vs 1.0 issue? I've heard of at least a few of those. (Though that's not SUPPOSE to happen either!)

Sorry, no. The only reason I have 2 2250s, is the two servers are 250+ miles apart. One is my "dad's" server and one is mine, but I run and configure both. But, saying that, I'm only 95% sure the Intel NIC is in the 16x slot. I might have it backwards and the 2250 is in the 16x, and the NIC is in the 1x. I'll try really hard to remember and check mine tonight. I do know both systems are the same, except dad's also has 2 1600s in his. (he watches a TON of TV)

My system's got 2 2250's in it now, and they appear to work fine on WHS. I was planning on adding a 3rd, but I think I'm just going to grab 2 HD PVR's and stick on that machine soon as I save my pennies .

OK, just checked, and I was wrong. The 2250 is in the 16x slot and working fine, and the Intel Pro NIC card is in the 4x slot. (only 2 slots, and that's the sizes)

BTW, on the AMD 690V both the 16x and 4x slots are hooked to the "North Bridge".

Solved the issue with the 2250 in an x16 slot; An old install of WinXP.

I had built a new PC, but used the HD from the old PC by selecting WinXP install to repair instead of a fresh install. I had deleted the previous video driver (AGP slot). I'm not sure what was causing the problem.

Since I now have a SageTV HD-200, I had decommissioned a Tivo box that I had upgraded with a 500 GB HD. I did a fresh install on the 500GB HD and install the 2250 in the x16 slot. The 2250 is working perfectly in the x16 slot.

Go figure.

Does anyone have "seeker/fast_mux_switch" set to TRUE for the 22xx Cards ?
I still have mine to false and I get a nasty delay and visual program interruption when I am viewing the same channel and the program material changes (usually on the hour or half hour). Wondering if they are related.

With WAF at an all time low due to going to dual 2200's, x64 and HD Extender at the same time I am being cautious on making any changes.

Thanks

Is it only on analog material? A couple of us have noticed that recording one analog and one digital is fine, two digital is also fine, but two analog (SD) and it is sunk....it causes all kinds of stuttering.

QAM channels were limited to 125

Thanks to all the great discussion in this thread, I bought an HVR-2250 2 weeks ago, and put it in my HTPC, which is running SageTV 6.5.9. I struggled with several hard crash issues, but finally got everything stable after a BIOS update, nForce 430 chipset driver updates, and using the then-latest jan-26-09 beta drivers. I was finally able to tune analog and digital channels without any crashes, and I moved on to the task of channel mapping to the Comcast Sunnyvale lineup.

The mapping was pretty challenging, but in AVSforum postings, I found instructions on how to use the Pace DTA adapters that Comcast is giving out for 'free' to analog extended basic customer like me, to get the real Comcast to QAM channel map from the Pace DTA diagnostics screen. I wrote down the frequency and sub-channel (program number) reported by the DTA box for every clear QAM channel it could see, and entered these into SageTV:

Comcast name freq prog QAM QAM-sub
2 KTVU 519 1 73 73-1
4 KRON 519 2 73 73-2
5 KPIX 519 3 73 73-3
7 KGO 519 4 73 73-4
9 KQED 519 5 73 73-5
..........................................
56 CNN 765 7 119 119-7
82 GOLF 765 8 119 119-8
31 HSN 765 9 119 119-9
34 QVC 765 10 119 119-10
57 HN 765 12 119 119-12
197 KICUT-D 783 3 122 122-3
99 LOCAL 807 4 126 126-4
70 BET 819 1 128 128-1
74 OXGN 819 2 128 128-2
165 OXGN 819 2 128 128-2
29 DSC 819 3 128 128-3
50 TLC-W 819 4 128 128-4
63 COM-W 819 5 128 128-5

43 MTV-W 819 10 128 128-10
53 NICK 819 11 128 128-11

There are 104 clear QAM channels, but when I got near the end of the list (sorted by QAM channel), I found that SageTV hadn't found any of the QAM channels above 122. All of the QAM 128 channels were missing!

After more experiments, and 2 calls to Hauppauge tech support, which didn't turn out to be helpful, I just found that the Hauppauge beta drivers link has a new HVR-2250 driver, with a date of feb-25-09. In the release notes, it explains the reason I wasn't getting the QAM 128 channels:

ftp://ftp.hauppauge.com/Support/HVR2250/
File: 090225_22xx_7.6.1.27056.prerelease.zip
/*
** Hauppauge Release Info/History...
*/
Driver Release 7.6.1.27056.PreRelease (2/25/09)
* Fix both Analog and Digital "First Tune" Issues.
* Fix bad interaction between [digital] tuners. Sometimes digital tuner would receive errors on tune from other.
* Initial Support for Crossbar Flexibility.
* Extend Digital Cable (QAM) tuning range up to channel 158 (max had been 125).
* Fix "Analog Blue Video on Digital Tune" issue. Sometimes analog video would go blue if the other tuner were tuned digitally.
* Fix MCE "FirstRun" detection of ATSC.
If you've been having trouble getting QAM channels above 125, it's worth giving these new drivers a try. I'll try them as soon as I get home.

The new drivers seem mostly like the older Jan-26 drivers, but I see changes in the signal strength bar in SageTV. It used to always just show "100%", but now it varies, and shows me 6% when I try to tune QAM channel 128 by manually assigning something like 54 Toon to "128-7". I don't really believe that it's a signal strength problem, since I have an amplifier (to 1100 MHz), and the 2 cable boxes, a Motorola DCH70?, and a Pace DC50X DTA, both have no problem getting QAM 128, with or without the signal amplifier.

Still no luck getting QAM 128 on the HVR-2250, and I see that Newegg has a sale again on HDHomeRuns, for around $140 with free shipping. I'm tempted to wait a bit longer, since I'm guessing this is really a software problem.

Anyone ran into the following error when trying to add the Digital (ATSC) tuner on the 22xx:

Code:
ERROR (-4,0x8007001f): There was an problem using the capture device. Please be sure you have the latest drivers installed for your capture device, and that they are installed correctly.
I have the latest drivers from the Hauppauge site and am runing Sage 6.6 (which I believe incorporates the previously mentioned fixes). One complication might be that I am running under Windows 7, which I haven't seen anyone in this thread mention.

The WinTV application is able to pick up the digital channels on this tuner so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. I am going to try the 4.8 beta drivers available at ftp://hauppauge.com/support/beta/ but I don't know if they are any newer.

This is what I get in the debug log:

I have the latest drivers from the Hauppauge site and am runing Sage 6.6 (which I believe incorporates the previously mentioned fixes). One complication might be that I am running under Windows 7, which I haven't seen anyone in this thread mention.
I have the same problem on 7 with the second tuner, the first one works fine.

Thanks for the link, I had noticed it earlier but misread the version number and thought they were both older than the current release. Still no luck with fixing the error though.

I also have a 1800 so I will try pulling it and see if the 2200 works when it is the only tuner.

To be clear, I meant the first tuner in the 2250 works. I have another single tuner card in the box, and it's presence has no impact.
