Bingo, I'll try that tonight, thanks

Ultimately you should have 4 sources set up when you're done for your HVR-2250... 2 for analog and 2 for digital. Sage will then intelligently figure out which source to use depending on which channels you're recording simultaneously.

Out of curiosity, what 2250 driver version are you guys running? Maybe that's an issue

So what happens if three shows need to be recorded? Does Sage correctly show a conflict?

Yes.
That driver did the trick for me and I figured out that using a different channel line up for the different types (analog and digital) fixes the source issue. It's been up for 2 days now and works great. I'll be making the Sage purchase soon.

The comskip is the best tool ever, so many customizations to play with....

Community question for the 2250 group:

I've got a 2250 installed; using SageMC; using latest 2250 drivers (beta) and the latest SageTV beta.

I can record just fine, but the resolution is terrible. It looks like the vide is being recorded in 480i even though I'm watching a 1080i feed. When I tune the same channel in with my HD-PVR, the picture is amazing. I'm thinking that the difference is that the HD-PVR is recording a TS and per graphedit it's using the ArcSoft MpegDemux. However, the MPEG (per graphedit) is using some general Demux that is only showing a video stream at 480i.

HELP (please)!

Okay, I have the 2250 installed in my WHS SageTV box. Hauppauge 27007 (beta) drivers. Sage 6.5.5RC (standard UI). While the resolution is obviously 1080i, the drop-outs are terrible. Same channel on my HDHR is crystal clear. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Also, is there any way to set a priority order for the tuners? I.e.; Is there some way for me to tell Sage to use one of the HDHR tuners (assuming both aren't already in use) before one of the the HVR-2500 QAM tuners?

Thanks,
pat----

Perhaps a there is a low signal level, which the 2250 doesn't handle as well as the HDHR? Maybe you've split the cable too many times and need an amp.

Use the encoder_merit property, which happens to be in the PDF manual, around p. 236.

Well, I had a CATV tech out this past Monday for an unrelated issue and he said my line levels were perfect for the number of TVs and tuners I have in the house. It comes in to the house and into a single 8-way splitter. When I look at the channel in the Tuner Setup/Channel Line-up it shows me that the signal is 100%.

Puzzling. I'm hoping it's a driver issue since the one I'm using is a pre-release/beta) driver. <fingers crossed>

psklenar,

I too have terrible dropout (stuttering is how I've described it). I get it on worse on my HD-PVR, but the 2250 has it too. It's in the recording as the stuttering is repeated at the same spot in a particular recording. That tells me it's got something to do with the capture and not the playback.

I've got the latest 2250 drivers, sagetv, sagemc (well, missing the last beta). It's killing the WAF right now......I'm told it must be fixed before Super Bowl Sunday.....

Quick question - With the latest beta (6.5.7) do we still need to set seeker/fast_mux_switch=false for the 22xx cards ?

Thanks

Anybody know if you can use 2 of these in one PC? Trying to figure out if I can use 2 of these for 4 analog DTV sources, and 2 of my PVR500's for 4 more DTV sources...

I hate to open a somewhat dead thread, but I have a question about the abilities of the 2250. What I want to do is rid myself of my PVR500 (it is currently being used to capture composite video from my Dish 311's). It's been a good card, but I want to free up the PCI slot. I also want to add two more HD tuners (QAM) to bring my total to 4 (2 others are from my HDhomerun). Can this card record 4 sources IF the tuners are only being used for ClearQAM and the analog capture is via composite/sivdeo only? I know the card can only tune 2 channels at a time (whether that be 2 SD or 2 HD or a combination) but what about using the composite connectors? This would be the perfect card for me if I can record 4 shows at once.

Does the HVR-2250 work in an x16 slot?

I realize this is an old thread, but I didn't want to start another 2250 thread.

Has anyone tried the HVR-2250 in an x16 slot? I cannot get the 2250 to work in an x16 slot. It works great in the x1 slot. I need two more tuners to complete my SageTV HD-200 replacement of my S2DT Tivos.

An x1 card should work in an x16 slot. I run hcwclear, power-cycle and place the 2250 in the x16 slot. On reboot, WinXP sees the 2250 and tries to load the driver. During the driver install, the installer reports a code 10 error occurred. When I run the driver upgrade by itself, it does not see any supported HW (i.e. the driver installer does not see the 2250 in the x16).

I have an Zotac N73PV-Supreme (nForce 630i/GeForce 7100). Latest BIOS.
WinXP SP3.
Latest nVidia GPU driver 181.22.
Latest Hauppauge driver 7.6.1.(27023 Prerelease)

Support from Zotac and Hauppauge cannot resolve the problem. Zotac claims that x1 cards have been tested in the x16 slot. Hauppauge claims they've tested the 2250 in x16 slots.

Problem 1
If you have only one PCI Express x16 slot it only work with Graphic Video Card and nothing else due to fact that tie to north bridge chip just like most SLI motherboard and not south bridge chip.
Problem 2
Just about 98% of all motherboard out there are build around gaming and nothing in way of TV/Media Server there are only a few with 4 PCI Express x1 slot look at GIGABYTE "Intel" or MSI "AMD".

Not true. I have a intel pro nic in my only x16 slot. The 2250 is in my 1x slot. Both are working just fine. Just becuase it's hooked to the "North Bridge" doesn't mean it can't use non-graphics cards.
