Question HD Tuner Issues

Ok so I'm trying to use sage to tune both Clear QAM and OTA HD broadcasts, but I'm having some issues. . .

For OTA I'm using a powered antenna along with a DVICO FUSION USB Gold 5 box.

For Clear QAM I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-950.
-- I already posted about my issues with this guy here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34327

For both of these guys, If I plug the lines directly into my TV, I get lots of channels no problem.

But when I try to scan for channels with the FUSION, (either in DVICO's provided software, or in SageTV) it doesn't seem to find anything, even though I know I'm getting at least 10 channels.

Same goes for the HVR-950, except with it, channels come in fine in Hauppauge's software (WinTV), but nothing in Sage.

Thoughts?

This is a Windows Driver limitation....

As far as the Fusion5, have you tried using the included software package by Dvico? Could be a bad card. If you use their software and still get nothing, then it isn't a Sage issue.

I can't help you with the 950.

Actually yeah I got Dvico to work, and thereby sage to work although right now its having a problem toggeling between different sources (HD OTA to SD STB), but I imagine I can figure that one out. . .

But now I'm more curious. . . a Windows driver limitation? Since when? It works for Windows using Divcos software. . . or at least it does for me. . .

Of course the HVR-950 info is more what I'm interested in. . .

QAM tuning works within the fusion software? Hmm.....boy I have gotten two wrong today.... In that case Sage must not have added support for it. To be honest with the popularity of the Hauppauge cards in general (they are sort of the HTPC standard) and the HDHomerun, I don't think there is much interest in the fusion5 cards anymore (whether right or wrong). I have the lite model, but it is only regulated to tuning 1 HD channel OTA (One of my channels needs its own antenna to reliably pick up a signal). Otherwise it just sits there in my case.

Yeah sage supports it for linux, but not for windows. . . and they don't claim to support the HVR-950 either, but i'm wondering if that's not going to come. . .

I'm playing with sage's trial right now, we'll see. . .

no, but that's not to say I tried.. .

My setup changed recently and so now i'm only using an HD-PVR exclusively.

I need to get back Clear QAM, but 5 only does software encoding so I was thinking that I might get a new card.

Either way i'm not in a hurry b/c for me recording one show at a time is fine, and I need to figure out how to get a cable run over to my machine in my new house.

FYI: I was right about a driver limitation to the Fusion 5 lineup. The ability to do QAM tuning is limited to the Dvico software as it adds addittional abilities to the card. The windows drivers themselves do not do QAM natively. This is why in Windows the Fusion 5 series can not do QAM in Sage. I have a fusion5 Lite and verified this. This limitation actually dates back to when these cards were first released. At that time there was no support for QAM tuning within the Windows drivers for any card. It was not something that the drivers allowed for. This has changed, but seeing as how they haven't released new drivers for the fusion 5 series in a couple of years, QAM tuning in windows was never added.
