Hi. I have followed the directions listed in this thread and am unable to 1. enable "Fan Art Support" from the menu and 2. set the Fan Art Central File Path. After looking thought the forums for a while I remain unsuccessful.

Any advise?

Thanks, Mike

Make sure you're running the latest beta of SageTV, (At least 6.5.14) and the latest pre-release of the SageMC STV.

Perhaps I should try a re-install?

I'm trying to install the BMI and following the instructions I don't see anything in the SageMC->Extras (it's blank). I've installed the BMI files and edited the sage properties file as instructed. Any ideas?

Gerry
I just did a reinstall of the beta and SageMC. I am using WHS if that matters?

Muchacho and Dean_H,

Try going to the SageMC Settings screen (Main Menu->Setup->Settings)where you have a SageTV info panel on the right side of the screen under a ZAP2it logo. This panel lists Software Version, Java Version, SageMC STV Version, sagemc.jar Version, phoenix.jar Version, and Current STV File...post what you have listed for each of these. This should help determine if things are installed with the right versions.

Java Version, 1.6.0
SageMC STV Version, 6.3.9a pre-release 41
sagemc.jar Version, 6.3.8
phoenix.jar Version
Current STV File SageMC_6_3_9a_41-1.xml

Nothing is listed for phoenix... I installed the BMI file as directed, but something must have been lost. Any ideas?

Yeah, not having anything listed for phoenix.jar would definitely be a problem.

You downloaded the plugin from here http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...do=file&id=239 and extracted all of the .jar files to the Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\JARs directory while SageTV was not running? And you made the edits to the Sage.properties file on the server while SageTV was not running? Installing this addon should be done on the SageTV server with SageTV completely shut down (and stop SageTV Service if you run it as a service). And you extracted the MetadataFanartTools-SageMC.xml file to the SageTV\STVs\SageTV3 directory and imported it using the Import STVi button in the SageMC Settings screen?

Verify you have all of the .jar files from the metadata-updater-2.3.1.zip in your C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\JARs folder and double check the edits made to the Sage.properties file on the SageTV server to be sure they are still there and that they are correctly spelled.

If you've done all of this and it still doesn't work, I'd suggest enabling the SageTV debug logging....Main Menu->Setup->Settings->Detailed Setup->Advanced->Debug Logging. Once it's turned on, restart SageTV and look for the sagetv_0.txt log file in the Program Files\SageTV\SageTV directory. Check that file for any phoneix errors or any other java related errors that might give you a clue about what's going wrong.

Thanks- I did all that and will enable logging to see. What is odd is that the phoenix.jar file is there, but does not seem to be registering.

I found my problems....thanks....

I didn't load the STVi for BMI. Once that was done, everything worked as described (and the Extras folder was no longer blank).

Thank you for the help.

The BMT plugin works fine for me when I am getting Fanart/Metadata for TV shows and when I get Fanart/Metadata for Movies from within my Video Library, but it does not appear to work when attempting to get metadata for Movies recorded from TV that are stored within MyTV (I use SageMC) rather than my Video Library. Am I doing something wrong or is that the correct behaviour?

edit - One more question - when I use the plugin it creates a .properties file. Should it be creating a .my file for SageMC?

Read my post above about known problems with the BMT plugin that Sean is investigating.

Care to give me a hint where that post is - this thread now has 954 posts.

I Searched this thread for "known problems" and didn't get a hit.

Is there a way to turn off the backgrounds for Movies when using the BMT plugin? My wife does not like the backgrounds. If I disable "fanart" then I lose the Movie poster as it is also being written to the central fanart directory. Basically, I need the plugin to work the way it was before fanart was incorporated. If i change the metaupdater.properties to write the poster to the Video_TS folder, no poster is downloaded at all.

Thanks in advance.

If you disable fanart, then bmt behaves as it did before. ie, posters are written as "vidoe.jpg" in the same folder as the video item. I'll add a bug to take a look at this, but I currently use both scenarios in my home environment, and I have not noticed the issue that you have described.

On a side note... In a few days (or on the weekend) I'll be releasing a beta of the 3.0 release. I would encourage anyone that is currently "struggling" with the 2.x release to try the beta since you'd have nothing to lose anyways. The new beta will have web based configuration section that should make configuring and troubleshooting issues much more intuitive. In many cases, the issues that are reported, can never be reproduced, and I suspect that in some cases, it may simply be configuration related. Hopefully the new build will help with that by allowing a more visual approach to the configuration. The web configuration will depend on the Jetty webserver plugin, since will deploy a web configuration package to the Jetty plugin.

All recorded TV gets put under "TV"... so a recorded movie is treated like a "tv" show as far as bmt is concerned. Because of this, a "TV" provider is used to find metadata for the movie, and it fails. There is an enhancement open for this issue.

Short Answer: No. SageTV consumes .properties as part of it's core import engine... SageTV knows nothing about a .my file. I don't even know what .my files are and why they exist. Bmt could produce .my files, but I don't see the point. I use SageMC, but I don't use .my files in my setup, so maybe I'm missing something??

Thanks Sean - I was wondering about the .my files since that is a setting unique to SageMC and for EvilPenguin's MediaScraper there is a setting to generate properties files or My files which is for: "/genMyFile - Generate a .my file, contains extra data for SageMC "

I thought that you needed .my files for SageMC but when using BMT I am seeing MetaData so I guess I don't need .my files - sorry about that.

I saw something in your list of issues about deleting properties files - do you not need the properties files - that is, can they be deleted after being read by Sage? Or are they read every time you open up a show/movie?

One further question - occasionally I am getting 0 byte jpg files for Fanart - have you seen this?
