Cracking sound when changing channels
How do you stop the cracking sound that happens when you change channels?
On my setup, it happens on a lot of the channels. Thanks |

I had to use the directsound audio renderer or whatever it is called. If I used one from Sonic or something else I got the popping sound.
Hope this helps, |

I am going to do this for the second time today............there is a setting in the sage.properties file that will stop this. Unfortunately I can't think of what the exact line it is.....something like fastmux = true. Set it to false. If thats not it, do a search for "Pop".

While this seems to help (seeker/fast_mux_switch=false), the point is that (for me) with v. 1.4 this was set "true" with no audio problems. With 2.12, I am getting pops, clicks, cracks and occasional squeels w/ channel change. Whatever made the audio clean in 1.4 w/ fast_mux set "true" needs to be replicated in the new version 2.xy.

Are you sure DFA? It's normal to get the pops and cracks if its set to true. SOme people never channel surf so they dont hear it.

Yep, I'm sure.
Really sure because the wife would have pitched a bitch with 1.4 as she has with 2.12 and I saved the SageProperties file from 1.4 before loading 2.12 and went back and checked it and found fast_mux set to true. Hence my previous comment as there being audio noise on channel switching that was not there in 1.4. DFA

Huh? As in "debug" or "does it bug me" or was it buggered or just plain bug as in insectile?

Its never been accepted as an official bug before. Do a search on it. There are a number fo threads where Narflex said it happens with this setting on. The purpose it to make the channel change faster. Unfortunately it produces the pops.

OK. I got it : "bug it" = make a bug report.
No I have not since this one seemed upfront and obvious to me and would be overkill but it seems that everyone is accepting it as normal with the fix being to set "fast-mux=false" which is OK. But I do believe there is a difference in audio performance in channel changing with "fast_mux=true" that was much better in 1.4 .... that's the only point. I think some other's are experiencing the same symptom or would already be aware of the "fast_mux" toggle which I was not since, for me, there was no issue with 1.4. I think more traffic will be seen on this yet since there are probably others like myself that found no need to set "fast_mux=false" with 1.4. DFA
