How to (or thread with) configuring HD-PVR IR Blaster?
I'm having one of those days, the answer is probably in front of me but I can't see it.
I'm trying to configure the IR blaster for the HD-PVR. Where exactly do I set it up? When I select it in Sage, it doesn't ask for anything. EDIT: Sorry, I don't mean the "blastcfg" program, that seems to work. How do I get that to work with SageTV? Do I need to leave something running, and it auto-handshakes? (I also have a USB-UIRT, but it doesn't want to learn the H21-100 IR codes. And the Paterson serial adapter just stopped working, so forgive me if i'm being dense). When you add the HD-PVR in SageTV, it ask you for video source, you select "Component," and the ask you select tuning option, you select "Use External Cable or Satellite Receiver to tune channel." The next screen it ask for Tuning Option, you select "Hauppauge IR Blaster".
Good luck. Edit: Forgot there's more. You need to configure the remote codes for your STB. So you need the remote code file (.ir) and put it in the SageTVCommon/RemoteCodes/Hauppauge IR Blaster/ folder. Look in the Remote Codes folder for existing STBs codes. Then you need to go back to the HD-PVR source in SageTV and configure the Tuning Option, and choose "Change Tuning Device" and choose the .ir file for your STB.

Thanks much for providing that missing link. EDIT: I'm an idiot. It's right there in the USB directory. Man, I need to walk away from this today, too much muffed shots. Last edited by IVB; 07-13-2008 at 07:08 PM. |

sorry, not quite there yet. I was able to follow your steps, thanks again, and selected the H21-100 device. But when I select a different channel, it doesn't tune, furthermore I don't see the IR blaster even blinking (aka, sending the new channel command).
I've tried leaving the Hauppauge IR program running and not running. Any other tips? |

AT first you talk about the Hauppauge blaster. Then you talk about learning the codes to the USB-UIRT. Then you talk about the Hauppauge IR program. Which are you using to change channels. On my I did NOT setup the Hauppauge IR or use it's program. I set it up to use my USB-UIRT and that works great. I'm a little confused by your posts but I would just use the USB-UIRT and choose that in Sage.

I apologize for my ambiguity, I was trying both and couldn't get either to work and was a little frustrated at the time of posting the reply. At this point I care less about which works, I would just like tuning to work.
For USB-UIRT: When I select that it doesn't "learn" any of my H21-100 commands via the remote. If I ignore that portion, and selecting "Change Tuning Device" and choose the H21-100 device, it doesn't actually change the channel when I move around in the program guide. I've never tried blasting via the USB-UIRT, so I don't know if any lights are supposed to be coming up, but there aren't any. For Hauppauge blaster: I moved the .IR file from the USBUIRT directory into the Hauppauge directory and selected that via "Change Tuning Device". However, when I change channels it doesn't light up as it should if truly blasting, and nothing happens. When I used the BlastCFG program, the emitter lit up every time I did a "test send" and succesfully changed the channel, which is what made me think that I hadn't setup SageTV correctly. Hope that helps, thank you for any guidance you may have. |

As far as the USB-UIRT you should see a light blink as you learn the code. Your remote must be very close-an inch or less-to the USB-UIRT. Can you try to learn another remote? Are the drivers installed correctly and show up in device manager? My settop is a Motorola so I was able to pick and use that one. DId you choose it as a remote in the Detailed Setup-Commands-Remote Control Configuration. I'm assuming you did that too and not just set it up from the video sources.
People have seemed to be less successful with the Hauppauge IR so I didn't even bother trying it since I had a USB-UIRT laying around. Gerry

I also didn't know about the DetailedSetup.Commands.RemoteControl thing, thanks for that. |
