Great plugin.....I did the netflix loop back thing and that worked fine....I loaded the Pandora STVI and that went fine...I got it to work with my 2 extenders and that is going very good.

So let me describe a small cosmetic thing and you may tell me a way around it.

My S-video loop back channel is channel 1...so I set that up in the properties files...and when I go to the Pandora screen in Sage on my HD extender and press "Connect"...it goes over to watch now on channel 1 and starts playing Pandora...all is well to here...

But to change stations or anything I need to go back to the Pandora plugin screen. When I go back to the Pandora plugin screen, the music stops. It is still playing, just I can't hear it when I leave the watch now screen. I have to go back to the watch now screen to get sound.

So, 1) is there a way to go back to the Pandora plugin screen and have the sound still coming through the extender? (I would imagine this is a setting in Sage)

2) if #1 works...then could the Pandora plugin automatically take me back to the Pandora plugin screen (or never leave it) ...obviously while the sounds is playing through channel 1?

Thanks again for the work on this plugin..

Gary Ellis

Are you using SageMC? If you don't see the video preview window on the Pandora screen then you won't hear any audio (I'm not sure how you would get in this state). If not, I'm not sure if I tried the "loopback technique" with the default STV so it is possible that it doesn't work.

Using regular STV....not SageMC

I see the Pandora screen to connect. Because I set up Pandora/channel=1, when I Press connect, it leaves the Pandora screen and goes to "watch live" on channel 1. And I hear the sound just fine. I then press the button to return back to the main SAGE menu...(I still have sound). But then when I click on the menu item for Pandora, it takes me to the Pandora page with the menu (switch, thumbs up, etc...) ....but no sound. But, if I go to watch now, the sounds is still going, just not when I am on the Pandora screen...

I am hoping this is a Sage setting of some kind, just not sure...

Thanks,

Gary Ellis

I found a program called Virtual Audio Cable that may be of use in making this work without the need to use an existing tuner (at least I think it will). I'm not great using GraphEdit, but I am trying to take it's output via graphedit (after it hooks the audio out from Pandora), and pipe it out to a .mpg file. Then I was going to take the Universal Network Encoder (here in the hardware section), and set that graph up as a single-channel tuner for use with the Netflix-method of playing on an extender. I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't test, but does this plugin (when using the netflix method) require a video-portion from the stream? If so anybody know how to maybe take a static screen/image and output it as a continuous video portion (be it a black screen, or picture or whatever), so there is a 'video' portion for sage playback purposes? (This is a problem with the MyTheater plugin as well, won't render the audio channels from mytheater since it doesn't contain a video portion).

I'd love to get this working on my extenders, but would hate to dedicate hardware tuner to listening to online music that would be better utilized for recording my odd scheduled stuff..

Figured out how to insert a jpeg as a video portion, and sage will play the saved resultant file, now I need to configure the UNE with the graph, and see if I can get it working with this plugin using the netflix method. Looks promising at this point.. Now if I could just figure out how to insert a graph into the netflix video output after it's decoded by their codec, then I could use it with that too...

Hey there guys:
Just installed this amp and I clicked on the SageMC one by accident. Now All I get is a black screen when I open up Sagetv. How can I reverse these changes?

You should be able to open up SageClient.properties or Sage.properties in Notepad and edit the line that starts with "STV=". I think you can just remove everything after the = and it will load the default on startup.

Sound Output

The Pandora plug-in works great, I really use it from my MVP and ran an RCA cable from my windows default audio card to my stereo. The question I have is:
when I decide to play something local to my pc it also too play through my stereo. How do I get everything else local to play on a second sound card?

Hey, have you gotten anywhere with this? I would love to do it this way also. Unfortunately I don't have the skills, but I was thinking along the same lines. Why can't they just loop this through a graph and stream it through a virtual encoder. UNE seems the way to go, so it looks like you are on the right track. Let me know if you get anywhere on this, as I am very interested, as I think a lot of others would be too.

What software are you using for "local" playback? You would have to set that software to use your other sound card.

I got it working, but only in non-service mode. At this point, I'm not comfortable without running in service mode (I plan on reloading my server at some point in the next few weeks, and may rethink that). I can post a screenshot of the graph I used, but it requires very specific filters to make it work (basically you have to have Adobe Premier loaded, and use the filters that come with it to encode a JPG to the video stream, and the line in emulator as the audio, no other filters I tried would do it (but it definitely works great that way). It's the Adobe Main Concept encoders (shown in the graph I have attached).

*EDIT* I should also mention, to get the 'generate still image' I had to render a jpg file in grapheditplus first, then remove the filters it used and add the Main Concept filters. On the server machine I set the virtual audio cable as the default sound source, and at that point, all sound was captured to the graph, with a picture of my dog (same as my avatar) as the 'video' stream. The captured file worked fine, and I was able to play it via an extender (I can't remember if I had to tweak that graph for the output filter part or not, using the dump.ax filter that comes with graphedit, for whatever reason I can't open saved graphs on my machine anymore).

Ok, I switched my server over to non-service mode (for now anyway), and I have the player up and running using decoders that should be on ANY sage system (using the Sage mpeg encoders & muxer). The graph looks like this:

http://www.agesofhighadventure.com/p...ra_filters.jpg

The last filter in that chain is labeled SageTV MPEG Multiplexer, just use it like any other dump filter and it should work fine.

Step by step:

1. Get the Virtual Audio Cable here and install (you'll really need the registered version, but at least you can test functionality with the shareware one, just gets annoying after a short while). Configure the package as per the instructions on their page.

2. Configure Windows Audio to use your Line 1 as your default playback device for windows (at least that's how I did it on Vista), obviously this is really only going to benefit if you're not using your server as a client as well.

3. Get the SageGraphRecorder here and extract to somewhere you can find it (I used c:\SGRecorder). Open the folder, and run Graphedt. Create the graph above and test to make sure it works. Once that's done, save the graph in that folder as pandora.grf.
*Note: I usually start by rendering a file, using a any static image, you can then remote the color space converter & video renderer filters, you won't need them, and that's the easiest way to get an image attached..

4. Edit the SGraphRecorder.ini file in the above folder to look like this (assuming the filename above):

Code:
[Graph]
FileName=pandora.grf
TuningDelay=1
UnloadGraphOnStop=1
UnloadGraphOnSwitch=1
5. Run the SGraphRecorder.exe.

6. Stop Sage, and add the following (just like you're setting up a network encoder the old-fashioned way), making changes to the port if you changed it in the .ini file above:

Code:
mmc/encoders/11011901/1/0/available_channels=
mmc/encoders/11011901/1/0/brightness=-1
mmc/encoders/11011901/1/0/contrast=-1

7. Start Sage.

8. Add a new tuner, using the Pandora tuner that will show up, configure it to not do any tuning, and no guide information. It'll show up as Channel 1 on your listings.

9. Configure the Pandora addon as shown here, and use the optional pandora/channel=1 in the client .ini files.

10. Enjoy Pandora on your extenders, without wasting a valuable hardware tuner.

If you have any questions, fire away, hopefully I'll be able to help out..

Two questions on this.
1. Currently this solution requires that you do not run as a service right?

2. Could this solution work somehow for Netflix Watch-Now and the online music streaming plugins?

On my system, I'm running it as a non-service (I use UNC paths for my recording directories, and you can't give a specific user 'interact with desktop' flag on the Sage service, so no service mode for me ). IF you're using the LocalService account for your sage service (not specifing a username/password), then it should work in service mode.

This should work for anything audio-only related (I don't think you can break into the netflix graph with graphedit, if you can then maybe it would work). OH, and animated GIF's will work for the static image, and they loop...

I've got to say, I really just switched from service mode to get this running so I could loosely document the process, but after running it for the past hour or so, I think I'm going to leave the system as it is (unless I get some major stability problems).

**EDIT** I seem to be having a odd problem, when I start the recording, I get the file created on the recording drive, but it never shows it getting any bigger. If I highlight the file in explorer, and then refresh, it shows the current size, and starts playing. I used the UNE for a long time under XP (and on my laptop it works fine with the same graph under XP), but under Vista it's just not cooperating, lol.

**EDIT AFTER THE EDIT** Well, it's definitely a Vista thing (not sure if it's my system-specific or not, will test on another machine shortly). I have a workaround going now (shared a drive off of my XP network encoder, and am using it in Sage for that specific tuner only, works perfectly fine). Not sure if I'm going to leave it like this, but I'm going to see if I can find a fix for vista..

I created a pandora account and and added the username to the ID outside of sage.

Going back into sage and my stations that I added are not visible. They are in the pandora player but sage is not showing the stations that I have added.

I'm not sure what you mean but you have to select the "Set Stations ID" button in Sage and set your stations ID there. This is not the same as your user ID - see the setup instructions for details.

First of all - this is very cool....

This is pretty darn cool.

I just had a suggestion.

The main one would be that pressing "TV" or "Music" or whatever on my remote would close the Pandora Player.
Currently if I go to Live TV or Music the Pandora Player continues to play.

I realize it's probably like that so that you can browse the guide/recordings/photos/music etc while still listening to music, but as it is the WAF is a problem.
She thought it was pretty cool until she had to listen to Pandora and her TV show at the same time.

If you hit Close Player, it shuts it down. I'm guessing that you're using the server as a station as well?

I followed this part of the instructions
# In a separate browser go to the Pandora Feeds page and input your email address for your Stations feed. Note your ID in the generated URL: http:/feeds.pandora.com/feeds/people/ID/stations.xml. Select the "Set Stations ID" button in Sage and input just your ID.
# Close Sage and reopen.

The pandora window is running in the background. I have a couple couple of stations that I have added on my pandora account in the webpage interface, verified this on other computers.

Now when I look for those stations that I have subscribed to they are not visible in sagemc. It lists a couple of stations but they are not ones that I have added.

Yes - I have not set it up on any of my clients yet. It would be nice if it would at least pause when another Sage Function is selected (or have options for what to do - ie: 'nothing', 'close' or 'pause')

Does the client behave differently?

No. I'm working on an update where I hope to add a prompt with these options when you leave the Pandora screen while the player is running.
