I was able to find a digital station in Iowa that matched PBS-HD off AMC3/KU and mapped it, so I can select that channel and it changes channels on the Pansat, and records... I also need a way to manually add one station from about 30 different cities. I have them in the guide, and selecting them changes the satellite channel, it just won't download guide data for them. Gotta be a way to do it for those stations which zap2it has data for... Anyone?

Previously posted on this forum ...
"You can also manually add the zap2it epg id number for the channels you want. This will add them to your existing lineup, and will not create any conflict like multiple tuners. This is what I do and it works wonderfully. If you go to the zap2it website, and hold your cursor over the channel you want to add, you will see a number followed by lineup id at the bottom of your browser. Use this number for the epg id in Sage." and "Go to zap2it.com Click one of the listings. Highlight the channel name on the left of the grid. For example: derpttp://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCSGrid.do?stnNum=22751&lineupId=0008999%3aX&zipcode=M5G1H1&channel=164&channelCnt=94 You're looking for stnNum=22751 22751 is the Zap2it ID for that channel. Add your channel into the SageTV EPG" |

Great. I searches ond couldn't find the original thread for some reason. I followed you right up until the end when you said to add the stnum to the sage epg lineup. How exactly do you do that? I haven't seen anyplace to edit the actual lineup yet. If it would be easier, could you send the link to the original how to: thread. Appreciate your efforts.

Around p. 161 (for the v6.4 PDF manual), there is a section for Channel Setup called "Add Channel to Lineup".

Thanks. I had read that, and actually entered some, I just wasn't catching on that you enter the zap2it ID number in the third field...I was just entering the stations call letters.
Working now. Have program guide data for all my fta channels now. There are a couple that downloaded data (one is a local digital subchannel) and then the next day, it said NO DATA again. I don't quite understand that, but I'm still learning. Appreciate the tips guys. |

Quite possibly this station is delivering the EPG data over the air... usually around 6 to 12 hours worth. If your tuner/SageTV isn't monitoring the stream then you don't get the data update.

When I try to add a station (one that used to be added, but got wiped out in the latest HDHR reconfiguration associated with 6.4.5), it asks me for the name of the channel, and a number, but does not ask me for the station ID. Consequently no EPG info shows up for it, but I can tune to it fine.
What am I missing? thanks, mike

Not missing anything I'm not. Seems once the channel is added, its stuck. Once stuck, even if deleted, will never ask the "third" question. I'm also not able to find a way to edit the epg station ID for that channel. We really need a channel editor...and if there is one, How to access it.

If your channels had been added previously then the 'Zap2it Station ID' and channel assignment is stored in sage.properties as:
epg/lineup_overrides/some12digitnumber= Mine looks like this: epg/lineup_overrides/some12digitnumber=36151,187;21785,703; showing that I added two channels; Zap2it ID 36151 assigned to logical channel 187 Zap2it ID 21785 assigned to logical channel 703 When I just added them my EPG showed a 'skip' where the epg data would show. I shut down SageTV (I run the Service), checked the entry and restarted. The EPG data show up for me on restart. [EDIT: additional entries in the sage.properties ...and edited again to take Andy's comment below about channel removal into consideration] Check to see if the added channels are in all the necessary sage.properties entries, and remembering to EXIT/RESTART SageTV (or the SageTV Service) so it can fetch the new EPG data on startup: epg/lineup_overrides/some12digitnumber=36151,187;21785,703; epg/lineup_physical_overrides/some12digitnumber=30507,29-29-3;42820,28-28-2;36151,83-83-3;21785,83-83-1;58519,8;53122,29-29-2;35278,6;33383,90-90-1;19574,29-29-1;34168,7;35064,28-28-3;50702,90-90-2; epg_data_sources/6digitnumber/server_update_id= ... 21785,same10digitnumber;36151,same10digitnumber; ... This post was edited to remove my comment about editing this data by hand. Users should use caution when editing the .properties files, expecially if SageTV can be used to correctly make the same changes. Last edited by Conejo; 07-14-2008 at 09:32 PM. |

Why adding a channel wouldn't ask for the Station ID and how to fully remove a channel you added are covered on p. 161 of the v6.4-B PDF manual -- some of that page (item 3, think) was updated compared to previous versions & it is included with v6.4.5.
