Can you add archived TV shows into Recorded TV?

I have a ton of avi's from tv series shows. Can these be added into recorded tv with metadata for easy organization?

Archived shows are already available in SageTV Recordings, but if you mean Imported Videos, then no, it's not possible.

actually, i found out you can. Generate .my files for your videos, then convert them to .properties files. then, using the webserver, you can import them into the recordings and they will show up as archives. its awesome!

Cool, I read about that method over the years being on this forum but never tried it myself. I meant to say its not possible through SageTV, but with customizations and hacks, anything is possible.

Yeah, thats true. it does suck that i have to do it one at a time. I have over 1000 episodes to do

I got all the currently running shows done, now time for the classics (Airwolf, A-team, etc...

Have a look at this

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...perties+import

I haven't tried it but I do remember reading that sage will automatically read properties files in the imported folders as of version 6.something.

Just going OT a bit, but I have 1.5TB of space just for SageTV, and I don't have much of a collection. I can't imagine how much space is needed to store all your collection? And do you have a backup of it?

Well, most of the episodes im currently adding are divx encoded. so each episode is anywhere from 300mb to 700mb each. I dont have a backup working on it though. hard drives are getting cheaper! I totaled just the archived (compressed) tv and its about 550GB. I am not sure how fast my drives are gonna fill up with the HD PVR recordings. I have dedicated a 1TB drive, 64k formatted for sage. we will see how it goes
