Channel tuning issue
This is most likey user error, and I am hoping this the case. I am running the demo version os SageTV for windows and I have (3) HVR-950 tuners installed directly on the USB ports on the back of the motherboard. I am able to add all three of those tuners as sources and watch OTA digital broadcasts. I noticed that I was not able to pick up any analog stations with these tuners, even though they are capable. Even if I delete all of the sources and just try to scan for analog stations on the first tuner that shows up, I am unable to pull in any stations.
I decided to add a PVR-150 into the mix and after deleting all of my sources and scanning for analog channels using the PVR-150, I was able to pull in analog stations. I tested live TV at this point and it was working fine for the analog stations I just scanned in. Next I added in one of the HVR-950 tuner sources and was able to scan in the OTA digital stations, but when I went to view live TV, just the analog stations worked. Whenever I hit a digital station, I just saw a fuzzy b/w screen and it was the same screen for all of the digital stations. Not sure what to try next. Thanks, --Paul |

Hi Paul,
We usually suggest that you download the latest drivers for your tuners from the manufacturers website, then test your hardware with it's own software to make sure it works on your PC. There are many tuner types that SageTV can work with: Composite [aka Video/Audio In] S-Video [similar to Video/Audio IN using S-Video] TV-Tuner [aka NTSC/CableTV, Standard Definition ANALOG TV] ATSC [aka Over The Air - Digital TV, 8vsb) Digital Cable [aka QAM DIGITAL CABLE] HD-PVR [Hi Def input] or other special version input Each requires the latest DRIVERS be installed Specifically in your case, I believe the HVR-950/980 is only supported for ATSC [OTA Digital] since the NTSC Analog TV side requires software encoder to capture regular TV broadcasts and the drivers are a bit flaky. See Supported Tuners: which ones work, which ones do not? http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...9&postcount=50 When adding a different make/model or receiver-type tuners, they CANNOT share the same 'Programming Data Guide' / Channel Lineup. The three HVR-950/980 being used as OTA-ATSC Digital Tuners can share the same <city-digital local broadcast> channel lineup, but the PVR-150 has to use a <city-local broadcast> channel lineup. |

Hi Conejo,
Thanks for your detailed response. When I built this server, I grabbed the latest drivers from Hauppauge. I did have a separate programming guide assigned to the PVR-150, which was an analog only listing. The HVR-950s, all used a digital guide. Either way, I went back in last night and deleted all of the sources and started back with the PVR-150 and scanned in the analog stations. I continued on with the HVR-950s one at a time and when I was all done, it worked! Not sure what I did different this time around, but if it continues to work, I am a happy camper. Thanks again for the help. --Paul |
