ir.exe will not start

I have had no issues with the Huappauge remote for quite some time and I'm not sure if it's related to the new beta (Although I don't see how it would be) but I just installed 6.4.4 and then rebooted PC. Now my ir.exe tries to start then just stops. I can see it open in task manager then about 10 seconds later it vanishes. I have 2 USB2's and a dual PVR-500. I disabled the 2 tuners on the 500 and then tried to start ir.exe just to make sure it's trying to use one of the USB2's but still no go. I also tried un/reinstall but no luck there either.

Any other ideas I may have overlooked?

i remember that issue from a yr or so ago. i'd have to search for it myself, but there is a way around the ir.exe's tuner confusion. mine crashed when i upgraded servers last month and i'd forgotten about it until now. wish i could remember so i could point us to it. haven't used the remote at the server since last yr tho.

Actually after checking my event logs I noticed that the PC rebooted. I then noticed my wife's alarm clock is wrong. I shutdown the PC, unplugged the USB2's and brought everything back up again and all is well. We've been getting alot of Thunderstorms in the Northeast US lately. I think we just got a blip in our power that screwed up the USB2's...
