HD-PVR has been working great.. then I installed TME

Goooood evening,

So, my HD-PVR has been working great.. up until the installation of TME on my server tonight. Until now, I had only installed the PVR drivers off the CD onto my Windows 2003 Server SP2 Sage server. Playback has been through the client PC. I do run Sage in Service mode.

Anyway, after the TME install (and me playing with the format settings, increasing the video quality to 13.5Mb/s and checking the boost audio box), closing TME, and firing up the SageTV service, everything the HD-PVR records has a stutter every 3 seconds. It appears to be in the recording, but I'm not 100% sure. Fast-forwarding and rewinding, the frame skip seems to be at the same point every time.

So, I stopped the SageTV service, opened up TME again, reset the recording quality to default values and unchecked the Boost Audio box. I then started up Sage service and Client, changed the HD-PVR's recording quality to Great, and then back to Best. I closed the client and restarted the Sage service. The 3-second stutter remains.

I *could* uninstall TME, but I don't know if it would help. One other thing to note is that after installing TME, when changing channels in Sage, the screen goes to a solid blue screen for a second and then eventually displays the normal video.

I have not had the heating issues to-date.

Has anyone else ran into this?

Edit: This is using SageTV Server 6.4.3 and the 06/04 beta firmware on the HD100.

Sooo, the problem started when you installed TME......and you haven't removed it why? Just seems to me, that a quick uninstall might fix your problem (or at least allow you to rule that out if the issue continues)....

Yes - same as you. Since it works so well, I've stuck with playback through the extender for now.

After I installed TME, I experienced horrible playback stutter for my normal mpeg2 SD recordings, even though the codec selected remained the same in sagetv. Uninstalled TME, restarted sagetv, playback of first file made sage crash. Restarted sage, made sure default was selected for mpeg2 decoder instead (which is nvidia purevide) and everything returned to normal.

Overall, would rate my HD-PVR software install experience unpleasant...and plus the hardware doesn't work either.

TME = TotalMedia Extreme. This is the software that comes with the HD-PVR
