You already have a Hauppague device installed. You're going to have to run hwclear and possibly remove your PVR-500 first until after you get it installed. Follow some of the other threads. More than likely you'll:
1. Remove both devices HD-PVR and PVR-500 and run hwclear. Reboot.
2. Plug in HD-PVR. It should not say installed but runs the hardware wizard.
3. Install drivers and software. (Per document in your HD-PVR box
4. Install beta drivers from shspvr. (run setup)
5. Reboot and test with Arcsoft and Sage.
6. Add PVR-500.
6. Install drivers.
7. Reinstall beta drivers for HD-PVR.
8. Reboot and test both devices in Sage.

Hope that helps.

It turns out that only two out of five computer allow me
to detect HD-PVR and install drivers.
The others seem to think it already know what the device is
and will not allow me to change.
Also driver install can't find device.

Trying to watch tv program, but no luck so far with software on disk.

Trying to capture now.
Thanks,
Ray

Can not watch or capture.
ArcSoft says it is there and active
But it restarted 2 times when it tried to display to motherboard video.
So I put in a 7600GT but now it will not even try to display.
And scan info for arcsoft still thinks I am using the GeForce6150
onboard video. But I think that still should be ok.
Have no clue.

Start at the bare basics and the PCs that think it is already installed you will need to run hwclear. Have you done that on any of the PCs? Whatever PC you choose take all other hardware out of it but the HD-PVR. Your video card shouldn't prevent you from recording. I was able to do it on my server with built-in Itel 845 graphics. And make sure you install all the software. Disable your internal video in the BIOS of the motherboard before using the 7600GT.

Ok.
On my Sagetv server I
found something very interesting.
Instructions say hook up USB on both ends first
THEN
insert power connector.

That made the difference.
BUT
I never want to add more programs than needed.
SO
I only installed drivers

I then went to install new video source in SageTV
it found HD-PVR
BUT
only composite and S-Video
NO component video.

What next?

Thanks,
Ray

Had that when I forgot to update SageTV to the 6.4.3 beta. Was trying to install the HD-PVR on 6.3.10 and that is what I got. So try updating to 6.4.3 beta.

OK!
upgraded
Found component
BUT
could not stream/decode audio

HD-PVR feedthrough (cable box component+stereo -> HD-PVR -> HD tv component video + stereo) WORKS

Went to preview and add new source and SageTV still says it can't process audio.

HELP!

Thanks,
Ray

You might need the following in your properties file:

videoframe/ac3_audio_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Audio Decoder
and
videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder

Go into the TME folder on the installation CD and install the Arcsoft Total Media. Then use the Arcsoft decoders for the video and audio and add the lines Bob referenced above.

My setup uses motherboard's video:
NVIDIA GeForce™6150
BUT
I never watch it there.
It is only a server for:
media mvp
SageTV HD Media Extender
SageTV TV client

Running ArcSoft Video Decoder
kills my video output on my server and causes it to re-boot

and my SageTV TV client can't play video or audio

I need to play HD on:
media mvp (if not, no problem)
SageTV HD Media Extender (has to)
SageTV TV client (has to, it has 1080i monitor)

Now what???
Thanks,
Ray

Can't currently maybe in the future?

Does if you load the beta firmware

Install ArcSoft HERE!!!!! And add the properties lines I documented in prior post HERE!!!!! Also note that you may need to switch to overlay. I have a 8600GTS and so far I have been unable to use VMR9 FSE or otherwise to get smooth playback but that is on my server so you may not have the same problem.

Does Sagetv record the raw data from HD-PVR??
(no processing until viewed)
I copied the mpg file from hd-pvr over to my tv client tv pc that I was
using cyberlink's power dvd 8 with MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) codec.
Been using codec for viewing hd from hdhomerun for some time now.

Viewed the file with power dvd8 and it played, but poor quality and voice out of sync with picture.

yes my sagetv client is updated to beta

I will try arcsoft on my client pc.

Thanks,
Ray

If the ArcSoft software and client properties changes don't help - you may want to switch to overlay. If that doesn't work then I'm out of ideas and you should (if you haven't already) file a bug report to SageTV.

Yes, arcsoft worked on sagetv client
BUT
Sagetv's HD extender does not work with hd-pvr and arcsoft codec.
Thanks,
Ray

Codecs are not used when the extender is playing back the file without transcoding. You have updated to the beta firmware (20080604 at least the 20080519) on the extender correct? If not try that and see if that helps. If you have then is it able to connect and play but the audio is out of sync? If so are you using SP/DIF?

I already have started the upgrade of hd extender.
But it is taking time because of large data.
Thanks,

upgrade of sagetv's hd extender took care of the last problem.
Noticed that viewing hd-pvr files on TV client the cpu usage goes
up to 95%. HDhomerun is only 15%

Viewing analog tuners on HD extender is very, very bad.
Fine for media MVP
Now have to find out how to partition channels for who plays back.
So I will start posting in EPG, I guess.
Thanks for all the help.
I will have to save this thread for future reference.
Thanks everyone,
Ray
