Mac Placeshifter CPU hog / disk activity

Hey there,

Has anyone else experienced Placeshifter stuttering on MacOS due to heavy logging to syslog? Every once in a while, I presume when my wireless LAN gets a little congested, I start getting thousands of lines like below in my system.log file.

This starts thrashing the disk on Leopard, as the new syslog mechanism tries to create a database for searching the logfiles. The net result is unbearably choppy video, and a full disk.

I believe that this is due to heavy debugging information being sent to stdout/stderr. Is there any way to turn this off?

Thanks,
Pat

Not seeing it here. Playing AVI files like your log indicates uses 2-5% of CPU. This is on a wired connection.

Actually, the error is a misnomer. I'm actually viewing an MPEG-2 file created by a WinTV PVR-250 card.

I think this issue will only happen over a connection that doesn't have enough bandwidth to keep up with the stream. I notice that the problem starts when my wireless NIC downshifts below 22MB/s due to noise/interference/distance, etc.
