Yes, EAC does flac very nicely. I use Mp3Tag mainly just to embed album art. BTW. SageTV has issue displaying/using track number from my FLAC files. When viewing album details, all tracks are #0. I have submitted bug with samples to Sage.

I think playing album is ridiculously difficult in Sage and I have submitted bug against it. Just consider this (I am using extender).
Browse your music by folders, now you are looking at a folder which represents an album. Now go browse that folder to see songs. 1. Now try to play the entire album. You cannot just hit enter and say play folder. You have to hit back and then play folder. 2. When looking at the content of folder, select a song and then see View Album Details. Now you are using at the entire album. Can you play it? No. Even if you hit Enter you can just play song. To play the entire album you have to hit Back, Back and then play the folder. |

But then last week, I was doing something and stumbled across the "play album" option that Andy must be referring to. I don't even remember how I got there, but I remember thinking "dang, I didn't need to make all these albums into playlists".... (BTW, this was on an HD Extender)

I was playing with it this morning (6.4.3 beta and latest firmware) following the steps above and I haven't seent that option there. If it is there somewhere that would be grat. I always go through Folders first because lots of my tags are messed up or Sage just doesn't read them. I can play folders without any problems, but once I am in a folder and go from there I haven't found a way how to play it other then back to folder. Then the anoying thing is, that once I go back to folder, I cannot see the songs anymore and I have to go to Now Playing playlist and that is PITA to go there since it requires too many clicks.

To rip to lossless in wmp select 'More settings' from the 'rip' menu. ![]() In the 'options' dialog select the 'Rip Music' tab and change the 'Format:' setting to be 'Windows Media Audio Lossless'. ![]() As for converting between formats I couldn't do without the batch converter that's part of the (free) DB Poweramp suite. It's able to convert between any of the lossless (or other) formats out there and preserves all of the metadata. ![]() As suggested by others, editing metadata can be achieved using the regular windows interface (it's nicer but not significantly different in Vista). To view/edit metadata, select a file, right click it and select 'properties'. ![]() On the dialog for the file select the 'Details' tab and edit any of the tags that you want (you may need to click an advanced button if using xp). ![]() For metadata such as 'Album Artist' which are shared by all tracks on an album you can edit this for multiple files at the same time by selecting the files and editing the relevant metadata fields. ![]() ![]() NB: You can also use Windows Media Player to edit the same metadata tags if you like. I've occasionally found that it messes with things though so prefer just to use the controls provided by Windows. Mick. Last edited by mickp; 05-30-2008 at 10:02 PM. |

I actually tried WMA lossless, but my MVP's are not able to play them back. Nothing happens when I hit play, but if I go back to my MP3 folder, it plays the mp3's just fine.
I'll take a look at flac, but sounds like the implementation is a little buggy. |

Ewww! I hadn't considered that extenders might have a problem with wma lossless. Does anyone know if the HD extender can play (non drm) wma lossless natively? I've considered importing an HD extender but the inability to handle wma lossless would probably be a deal breaker. Mick. |

WMA Lossless support in HD Extender
*BUMP*
I've been considering picking up an HD extender or two. Does anyone know if the HD Extender supports non DRM WMA lossless yet? If so does it do this natively or does it down-convert to something else for transport/playback? Mick. |
