Help - botched IR programming - need to unlearn IR commands
I am setting up a MediaMVP. I was trying to reprogram the commands that all the buttons are mapped to and I botched it up.
I didn't realize that the stock MVP remote didn't have separate channel up/down and arrow up/down. So I happily reprogrammed my universal remotes ch up/down to page up and page down. You can probably see where this is going. Now I can't go up and down menu items by 1 any more, I can only go up and down by page. This means I can't select the menu items to program them back. So my question is: how do I get the Sage server to remember everything it ever knew about the Media MVP so that I can start again? I went into the client directory and deleted the appropriate .properties files. But when I plugged the puppy back in, the commands were still messed up. I am assuming that the IR command mapping is stored in the database. So how can I reset it for this client? Thanks Greg |

Did you shut down Sage before doing that, and restart it again afterward? Property settings are retained in memory while the program (or service) is running.

Ah, that was stupid of me. No I didn't shut it down, delete the file and restart it. I will try that later when my current recording is done.
I have the smaller Hauppague remote. Come to think of it, that remote might be from my PVR250. I am not sure I remember where the other Hauppague remote is. My MVP is also ancient, I got it when they first came out. I ran into this problem because logitech's Harmony remote application programmed the arrow up/down buttons with the same code as the ch up/down buttons, even though in the UI it clearly labels them as distinct entities. I also grabbed my MX700 that uses Opus' programming for the HD100. It too had the arrow up/down buttons the same IR codes as the ch up/down. Greg |

Yup, I found the original MVP remote and it was the small one. I guess at some point they started selling it with the bigger remote.

Thanks Greg
That did the trick. I shut down sage, removed the properties file, restarted sage and fired up the mvp. everything is good to go now. Greg |

You are correct. I got a MVP with the small remote and ordered the larger remote for 14.95 when they started shipping the larger remotes.
