Basic recording question when connected to a cable box

I am looking into getting Sage TV and had a quick question. If you are currently recording a program from a cable box and try to change the channel, does the software warn you that you are recording that channel.

The reason I am asking is if you set it to record a program and it tunes the cable box into the right channel and then somebody who is unaware that the program is recording wants to watch something else will it change the channel and miss the rest of the recording!

Thanks!

Sage will warn you if you try to switch to another channel while recording a manual or scheduled recording. Make sure you hide your old cable remote though.

File question

Thanks. Another quick question, when a program is recorded, is it easy to identify the actual file (i.e. if I want to id it and then convert it to a psp or ipod viewable file). I was looking at Sage and Vista MCE and was under the impression that this cannot be done with Vista (I plan on OTA HD and the Hauppauge HD-PVR).

Thanks again

Sage has buit in converters for some things, so when you select the file from your recordings, it will give an option to convert it... not sure if the psp converter is in that list. If not, then there may be a way to add a psp converter.

Or... The files on the hard drive are human readable and drm free. Here is a short listing of what the filenames look like.

Code:
6Teen-Sweet6Teen-425286-0.mpg
ColdCaseFiles-AHitchhiketoMurderNeverForgotten-412591-0.mpg
DelilahJulius-PressurePop-426133-0.mpg
GoDiegoGo-TheMommyMacaw-117909-0.mpg
SecretsofEgyptsLostQueen-420911-0.mpg
SueThomasFBEye-SimonSays-36892-0.mpg
TheFairlyOddParents-MoooovingDayBigWanda-59063-0.mpg
TotallySpies-MimeYourOwnBusiness-425893-0.mpg
EDIT: There appears to be converters for psp and ipod built into the convert menu.

Just to clarify, if somebody uses Sage to change the channel it will warn you. However if they use the cable box remote and change the channel, Sage has no idea the channel is changing and the cable box has no idea something's being recorded so there's no way to warn anybody.

You could also get a post-it note, stick it to the cable box, saying its recording, and not to change the channel...
