Extender Questions

I am awaiting my new HD extender to come and I had a few questions.

1. What firmware version is currently the most stable for the extender? Should I just upgrade to the latest firmware version when I get the extender in? I am currently running server version 6.3.10.

2. I have been ripping dvd's to a given directory on my sage server. Do I need to use a UNC mapping to this folder in order for the HD extender to be able to play the dvd content?

Thanks,

Marty

I'd probably update to the latest. Might want to try the latest non-beta SageTV as well, which I think is 6.3.10 IIRC.

The Extender runs in the server's "context", so if the server can see/play them, the Extender can.

I'd definitely upgrade to the latest release firmware, though it's likely they already have that on them since it's from a few months ago. I haven't seen any tangible improvements in the beta-firmware if you haven't upgraded the server, and I'm still hesitent to upgrade the server.

Well, yeah, you don't want to run the beta firmware without the beta server (and vice versa).

There are some nice improvements for streaming some higher-bitrate content, but if you're not having trouble you probably wouldn't notice.
