Youtube/podcast video in beta 6.4.2

I'm trying to see if anyone else is having a similar problem or if I should dig further into my system.

The beta fixed the previous condition where if you had always_use_dshow_player=true enabled youtube and podcasts would only play a few seconds before it thinks its finished, however now at least on my system the video will play back to a random point on the timeline before it pauses. If you then check out the timeline the player still thinks that its playing and is still scrolling along to the end when it finally drops the file. If you fast forward, the player dosn't recover to the new spot, however you can rewind before the pause and it plays fine up to that point. If you stop the file and try again, it will pause again at a different point in the file. The file plays normal with dshow player option disabled.

The codecs in use are ffdshow tryout (may 14th build) and Haali media splitter (March 29th build) I also tried a tryout build from last year and the same thing occurred

I've done a little bit more experimenting, Its possibly somewhere between the splitter and the player and how it treats h264. If you use Haali's splitter, the video pauses. If you use gabest's old mp4 splitter it still stops at random, however SageTV then thinks the file is finished and ends the read.

If anyone has this working, please let me know what splitter you are using!

Did this ever get resolved? I just noticed I can't play back youtube videos in Sage with Sage v6.4.8. I'm using the Haali splitter, and about 30 seconds into each video playback pauses and won't start back up again.

I had written about this problem a while back and it was Ignored... guess they are working more on HD etc.. and not too worried about youtube.

Oh, sorry. I haven't checked here in a few days.

I'm going by memory, as its been a few months, but I put in a error report and its a splitter issue. The new one included back then was supposed to handle the files better but doesn't. Its probably is still being looked at, but is pretty difficult.

A few weeks ago I was actually thinking about a stopgap solution, but I definitely don't have a clue on if its feasible, but what about making a option where online services uses the sagetv player, while everything else is directshow?

Is it some sort of combined error between Sage and the splitter? I think Haali is being used even for youtube videos. I never had any problems with H.264 files until I upgraded to v6.4 and CoreAVC 1.8. Now I can't play back my H.264 files or youtube videos in Sage (though, my H.264 files play back fine in WMP using CoreAVC).

I can't make the exact call on who's at fault as I'm definitely not a programmer, but I do know that streaming support is kind of hard to do, mostly because its not well documented. Players like Mplayer and VLC work because they see it as a network stream and just play as long as its getting info, while the directshow player in SageTV is meant to act just like how Windows Media Player would react. I'm kind of feeling that it can't really be helped at all at the moment.
