favorite recording on wrong channel

Just got my SageTV HTPC up and running, and so far I'm loving it. I am having one problem with any favorite set to record from NBC-HD records from FOX-HD. (i.e. I tell it to record "My name is Earl", and I get a "My name is Earl" recorded, but when I watch it what I really have is the show FOX was airing while "My name is Earl" was on NBC)

I am running 6.3.10, and I have three Hauppauge 1600 tuner cards with the newest drivers installed. I am tuning comcast analog cable, getting my HD channels through QAM. I did the channel remap, and it seems to work except for this one channel (i.e. favorites on CBS-HD, ABC-HD, and FOX-HD all record correctly). It seems entirely possible that I incorrectly mapped my NBC-HD channel, but here's the strange part:

If I go into the tv guide and choose a show listed on NBC-HD to "watch now", I get that show correctly. I haven't tried a manual recording yet to see what happens, as I do not want to alert the WAF there may be a problem

I'll try re-mapping that one channel tonight to see if that helps, just seems odd that it works correctly through the TV guide.

Any thoughts?

Nothing?

OK, here is a bit more information from this weekend. I remapped the channel and found no errors in my original mapping. Everything seems the same. Interestingly manual recordings seem to be coming out correctly.

Here's one thing I found that may be a cause of this. Someone who understands physical channels and logical channels may be able to make some sense of this.

My NBC-HD channel was found on 5-1 and my FOX-HD was found on 32-1 by the original scan of channels. I remapped these channels to their HD equivilant in the guide (something like 189 and 191). Anyway, I see that they are assigned channels in parenthesis of 117-5-1 for NBC-HD and 117-32-1 for FOX-HD. Meanwhile CBS-HD has a number like 119-2-1 and ABC-HD has a number like 121-7-1. So, is it this 117 being the same for NBC and FOX screwing things up?

Still pulling my hair out over this.

Here's a little more information that might trigger some helpful advise:

I noticed that I am experiencing the same issue with the "CW". EXCEPT..."Reaper" recorded correctly, while "Supernatural" recorded NBC.

Here is some info I have noticed regarding this issue:
  • All the incorrect recordings have come from tuner #3
  • I have gotten correct recordings of other shows from tuner #3
  • All instances of specific shows have recorded incorrectly

Is there a way to watch live TV on a specific tuner? i.e. I want to watch what tuner #3 thinks is NBC-HD, and see if it actually tunes to NBC-HD.

Hi clskier,
I don't know how much help I can be, but hopefully I can at least get a conversation started, then someone with more knowledge of your specific hardware may be able to chime in.

I use the HDHomerun for my QAM on Sage and I experienced a very similar problem to yours that I resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the DBA drivers. Since I know nothing of the Hauppauge 1600 I'm not sure whether or not it uses DBA drivers, but if you haven't already, you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling its drivers. Hauppauge is typically picky about how you do this so you may want to check their site for specific instructions.

As far as isolating a tuner for Sage to use, the way I've done it in the past is to simply remove all other tuners from Sage. There may be a more elegant solution that I am unaware of, but this way I'm absolutely sure that the tuner I'm testing is the one that Sage is using.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Peter
