Do I need a faster CPU?

I am currently trying to record shows on my nas server. I am using an HDHomerun to record HD. When HD is recording, my timebar gets thrown off and shows only play for like 30 seconds as the time skips 5 to 10 minutes ahead. Happened last night with American Idol. Is this due to processor speed, memory, or another reason. I am currently using an AMD 64 x2 Dual Core 4000+ processor with 3 Gb of Ram. TIA

If I had to point my finger at something it would be the NAS and your surrounding infrastructure. HDHR recordings are coming straight from the digital stream with no processing necessary. But it needs to write to the disk rather quickly. I actually had a disk going bad on one of my media servers that caused some of my recordings to go blotchy, green screen and messed up time lines. You could take the NAS out of the equation and do some recordings to the local Sage server. If those are fine it's the NAS, the network, the cable or something related to getting the stream to the NAS drive.
