What are the specs of your server and what is normally running at any given time? It almost sounds like you're running into hard drive throughput issues or maybe network throughput.

I personally was bumping up againts a hard drive throughput issue on my server running my HDHR and 2 PVR150's all recording while ShowAnalyzer was processing one show with intelligent recording enabled. As it turned out most of my recordings would go to the larger of my two drives and as a result I would get stuttering during playback during high volume nights. I tried everything. Second network card connected directly to my HDHR thinking it was networking. Tweaking ShowAnalyzer settings. The only thing that fixed it was disabling intelligent recording and pulling one of the PVR150's out since it wasn't really needed any more. Hopefully the new HD-PVR will negate the need for the PVR150.

Anyway, that's the experience I've had with stuttering.

As far as your friend goes she needs to call the cable company. If the signal is so week she can't get internet it's something they need to fix.

The network and server are pretty beefy. The HDHR feeds into a 24 port gigabit switch where everything else sits. Fios comes into a Verizon router which feeds straight into the gigabit router. My master server is running CQC which takes very little to run, and all shows are recorded to an internal 7200 RPM 500G HDD. Sata. Show analyzer is not running.

Is there any chance that the signal booster I posted to will help the problem? I bid on it already, so hopefully

Would one of these perhaps help? I'm currently using an HD media extender and HDHR. will the above device replace either?

Thanks,

Target

As such, would one of thesesatisfy my needs?

On a related note, a friend living in an apartment cannot get internet, because the signal strength coming into her apartment is so weak that she can barely get cable, and she can't split the feed to get internet also. Would one of these devices help her as well?

Thanks a ton,

On a 3 leg splitter, there are two types. One that evenly distributes the signal loss to all three legs, and those that do 3.5db to one and 7db to the other two. I am guessing you have the latter which means tuner 0 is plugged into the 3.5db leg and the 7db leg is into tuner 1 (am I right?).

In this case yes that electroline would be a great option. Electroline of any type are my favorites. I am using a signal vision only because that is what my cable co uses and it seems to be pretty good, but Electroline seems to be the fan favorites for videophiles.

The splitter i have is just the one that Verizon put in with their install, so I have no idea. I guess I'll just swap it out with the Electroline one that I linked to when it comes. Hopefully that works.

Does this mean that my internet is probably impaired right now?
