USB-UIRT - What is this for and how can I configure it?

Hi, I'm new to STV and just finished putting my system together and have started configuring. I bought the USB-UIRT, because I thought it would be able to control the cable box for recordings. Is that right? If so How the heck do you configure it. Is it within Sage? I can't seem to find any threads that have been helpfull. Trying to keep it simple at first while I learn what this thing can do. I noticed that there is an iput on the back of it. Any idea what that's for?

When you go to setup your capture source (cable box), SageTV will ask you how you want to control it. Select USB-UIRT and then it will prompt you to press the digits 0-9 one by one so that SageTV learns their IR codes. If I remember correctly you may have to hold your cable box remote very close to the UIRT for it to learn them correctly.

Then SageTV will be able to change channels on the cable box via the USBUIRT to record the shows you want.
