I wish Cox would add Sci-Fi HD to their lineup here in Phoenix. If they don't by the time I finish upgrading my Sage setup to HD I'll start looking at switching.

Score!

I can now officially keep Dish when my agreement ends in July or so. Hopefully they'll get a couple more of the channels missing up by then.

SciFi HD is a bit disappointing as pretty much everything but BSG is in SD (and sometimes the BSG reruns are in SD for some stupid reason ).

USA HD on the other hand is pretty good. They have lots of HD programing, for instance all of their original series (I can't wait for Burn Notice to come back), a few of their syndicated shows (House, Law and Order, etc.), and all of the movies they play (I know the movies are just scaled, but at least their shown in their original aspect ratio w/ 5.1 audio).

So was ESPN-HD when it first came out 2 years ago, now it's almost 100% HD content. The SciFi HD channel is only 5 months out......give it time

New Disk Network HD Channels!!

All will be live by Wednesday, the vast majority went up this afternoon. I still need to figure out all of the channel mappings for them, then it's time to submit tickets to Sage and Zap2it.

I can't wait for all the new stuff to show up in the EPG. I'll need to order another hard disk...

Channel Mappings for new Dish HD until it's in the EPG

For those of you who have Dish Network and don't want to wait for the new HD channels to show-up in your guide data, here's a list of the channels and their HD-only channel number. You can use this to "Remap the physical channel" of the SD guide data to the HD channel until the new channels show up. You won't have the HD flag on the programming, but otherwise it works fine.

ABC Family 9434
Biography 9443
Bravo 9492
Cartoon Network 9463
Cinemax 5-star 9441
Cinemax (Pacific) 9440
CNBC 9439
Disney Channel 9433
ESPN News 9494
Hallmark Movie 9444
Toon Disney 9449
Travel Channel 9437
Weather Channel 9438

The following channels didn't have an SD feed already, so you'll either have to wait or add them as a new channel without any guide data.

MGM 385
Smithsonian 374
Tennis Channel 9442
World Fishing 394

I've already opened a ticket with Sage and contacted Zap2it as well.

since they appear to be mapped to the SD stations, will anything need to be done for these?

Only if you have an R5000, because you have to turn off the HD map-down function to get it to work right.

OK, I have one R5000 and 3 other vip211s.

What would I need to do special for the R5000? Do I need to use a separate lineup?

When you tune the R5000 to the channel w/ Sage, do you get the SD feed, the HD feed, or nothing. If you get the HD feed, don't worry about it everything is fine.

When I was setting up min, I got nothing - "no signal" or something like that, and I had to dig into the setup on the Vip-211 (local HD channels or something like that) to disable the HD map-down function. Then, I could tune to the HD channel in the 9000s, or the SD channel at it's regular number (though I general disable the SD version completely).

Cheers,
Slipshod

Zap2it "Tribune Media Services" seem be have a major problem with channel like TBS HD 9499 which is all so cross link to 139 TBS HD "which not a HD channel" and also part link to TBS 139
Example
TBS 139
TBS HD 139
TBS HD 9499
What's throwing it off is that there's 2 channels on 139 which dosen't need be there.
Heck even on there very own web which dog slow get the listing show the very some problem.
And really dosen't help when dumb air head at DISH Network submit the wrong channel number and Zap2it "Tribune Media Services" dosen't fix that messee channel list.
