x850xtpe
Hi All,
I am in the same situation as the person in this post. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31942 I have a spare P4 with 1G ram and an X850xtpe. I am curious if I can run the svideo from the stb into x850 VIVO in lieu of a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600? I have a Direct TV H20.Max Display is HD 720P. Thanks |

You can try it but it's unsupported and no guarantee it will work. And if you do that then you'll have to get a ir blaster that Sage supports so that your PC can change the channel on your DirectTV box. You'll be better off in the long run buying and working with the support hardware. Spring for the HVR-1600.

Thanks you for answering these simple questions. I've been searching for days and have found tons of info yet the simple stuff I'm stuck on is pretty much assumed knowledge.
With the HVR-1600 as the capture device in my pvr system stated above what role would the x850 play? Will it be possible to watch HD and Record HD at the same time? Is there any other hardware currently or on the near horizon that I should look at? Crash course in HD capture has commenced! thanks again |

Your X850 is your video card. If you have an HDTV then it is this card you want to connect to your HDTV. Hopefully you have a DVI connector on the card and also on your TV. Or if you have the option of having an adapter for your card that supports component cables out to the TV. Or your TV may have a VGA connector already.
