HD-PVR Shipments Won't Happen til Mid-May
Quote:

Those of you in the first group should get yours shipped Mid-May and those of you in the second group should get yours by end-of-May. Group 1 order # of 32700-33600 (I'm in that group fortunately) Group 2 order # of 33601-34600 I think that covers everything, but I have all the ugly details in out my blog post from earlier today in case I missed anything. |

Assuming the order numbers are sequential - almost 2000 of these pre-ordered. That's a pretty impressive number.
btl - sitting sadly in Group2 (33771)

That was my first thought as well, but I'm betting there are other Hauppauge items in the midst of those order numbers. No way to know for certain of course.

man that's a bummer, especially since I'm about 19 after bialio and stuck in group 2 also.
Alright, bright side, by the time I get mine, all kinks will be worked out of the sage integration by you intrepid first batch folks <g>. thanks

So would you guys all agree that there's really no need for a HDHomeRun after installing this device?

I wouldn't say that, although I doubt you'll need QAM. Some HDTV channels (ie those owned by LiN) don't have carriage agreements with all cable & sat co's. Plus I plan to start off with 1 HD-PVR and keeping my 2 OTA ATSC tuners.

It depends. If you can still receive at least your local networks through clear QAM I'd keep it just for that and then use the HD-PVR for everything else.

I wouldn't agree at all (see my signature.)
You can get a lot of channels via a lot of tuners available for only one monthly cable bill and one monthly cable box cost with only one of these. QAM or ATSC via an hdhomerun can cover most/all of your local channels and then you only need to use this device for conflicts or channels that aren't available via the other sources. Otherwise you have to buy 2 or 3 of these and rent 2 or 3 cable boxes. I can't wait to make this part of sage and drop our second cable box that has some lameass DVR functionality and therefore stop giving comcast so much of my money while getting even more out of their service.

This is what I am planning to do. I don't want to pay for 2-3 Cable boxes when most of what I record I can receive via QAM and/or OTA.

I sincerely hope it is not delayed, but if it is perhaps it will give Sage time to re-release the extender so I can have one when I get the hd-pvr.

Wow you guys are quick with the CC's. I ordered mine about 3.5hrs after the "pre-order is available" thread and I'm still in group 2 (#33838). Post lots of detailed notes on how to get this baby up and running. Who's gonna be the first with a screenshot? The prize goes to the maniac who posts the photo of the mailman actually delivering the unit

Group 2 for me as well. Oh well. I am not having any luck so far with the Patterson device so it will give me time to get that part working.

This may be a bit off topic... Does anyone have a recomendation for a good USB 2.0 card. Possibly with Firewire on it as well. I want to get my machine preped (which does not have usb 2.0) while I wait since I am in group 2 .

Personally, I've had the best experience with any USB 2.0 card that has the NEC chip on it. I've experienced issues with an external DVD-RW drive using a VIA based card. The issues cleared right up when I used an NEC based card. Kind of turned me off of anything else. Of course, I believe NEC was first to market with a USB 2.0 chip and was probably the basis for everyone else.

I had thought I was in the 1st group, but must have been having a brain-fart.... I'm just barely in the second group unfortunately. Now if I could snag a review unit and give them and SageTV some good press, then I could start testing but I'm guessing my odds of that are slim.
