uninstalling client / new license
OK, a while back, I was tryin to get sageClient working. I installed it on a laptop and it was not working well. So, I installed it on another machine and it works great. I got an 802.11g network and I think that may fix the problem on the laptop and want to get another client, but there is no place for me to enter a new license key. I have uninstalled it, but it must hide the key somewhere in the registry. I killed the Frey Technologies registry entries on "HKLM/Software/Frey...", uninstalled the sageClient, deleted the Frey directory, and then reinstalled, but it still does not ask me for a key (or better yet, to run it in trial mode to make sure it works). are there other registry entries?
Thanks, Chris |

Unfortunately I think the only way around this is to reload the OS. BUT.....before you do that I would email support@freytechnologies.com and ask them about this particular situation. They would have the answers-or someone else that this might have happened to.

Well, actually, I found that if you run the SageTVClient.exe with the "REGISTER" command line option, it works... sort of. It worked briefly, but now neither one of my clients will connect to the server. I'll post a new thread on this.
This sucks! $30 more, only to have it break.

Well, that did suck. Had to delete the wiz files. That fixed it, but of course, it lost a lot of stuff in the process. I'm lucky I had a backup of them from a week ago.
Jeez, I hope that gets fixed in 2.0.

This one?
If you are using the SageTV Client on more than one PC and accidentally entered the same license key from another PC you will get an error message - "Unable to connect to the SageTV Server". To enter the correct license key, open your SageTV folder, right -click on the SageTVClient.exe file and create a new shortcut. Then right-click on the shortcut and go to Properties. Then enter in the Target line at the end after the quotes a space and then the word REGISTER. The correct entry will look like this: "C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV\SageTVClient.exe" REGISTER. Then you will be prompted to enter the new license key and after your correct license key is accepted, and you can delete the shortcut you just created. http://www.freytechnologies.com/troubleshooting.html |

Did that. It worked dandilly. Then the server took a dump and I had to kill the wiz files. I don't know if it was related or just coicidence, but it is annoying. Anyway, all is back up and running, so the world is a better place.

Well, it isn't working for me. I'm updated my ATI drivers, and now it won't let me connect to the server. A re-register didn't change that, at all.
edit: Restarting the server fixed this, and fortunately enough, it looks like the ATI driver upgrade looks like it fixed my playback issues, so I'll consider the trouble worth it. --Mike Last edited by Llamas; 02-14-2004 at 06:35 PM. |
