Videos Not Showing Up In Media Center

I just upgraded from version 5 to version 6.3.10. I am unable to see my all of my imported videos. I have several videos that are mpg's that I have taken with my Sony Cyber Shot digital camera, but SageTV does not even show they exist. I made sure the import directory is setup correctly. Even tried moving them to different directories and setting up those directories. But they never show up in SageTV. They did show up in version 5. They play on my computer with WMP or MPlayer just fine. I have never had trouble with them other than SageTV v6 will not recognize them. Why would they not show up in version 6?

If I go to Media Center -> Browse Media Files -> Play a Selected Media File, SageTV shows them in the directory and if I pick one it opens it in a new window (not the SageTV window) that is full screen height but only ~150 pixels wide, so you cannot see the movie. In the main SageTV window it plays a audio visualization like from WMP. Did support for these types of mpg's go away with version 6? How do I get SageTV to recognize that my mpg video files exist?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

EDIT: The videos from my camera are MPEG1 compliant (Monaural). Does SageTV not display MPEG1 videos?

Send info about it to SageTV. It sounds like the files are getting misidentified as music files -- check the music browser and if they are there, look at the Song Detail screen for it.

I thought there was another topic about this somewhere, but I didn't find it with a quick search.

Andy,

Thanks for the reply. Per your recommendation, I turned in a support request noting that my videos do not show up in the video browser in the Media Center, but play fine outside of SageTV.

Also, I looked and the videos are listed in the music browser. When I check song detail it lists them as the format AUDIO-PS[MP2/32Kbps@32kHz].

I hope there is a fix for SageTV not recognizing the file type properly.

Thanks.

What version of SageTV are you using? If you aren't already doing so, check out the v6.4 beta.

I let beta v6.4.2 complete it's scan -- these videos were still not correctly identified. Will try 6.4.3 this weekend.

I'm not sure, but you may need to move the files or remove & re-add the import dirs to have the files newly seen & rescanned. If y\there are still prblems after that with the beta, file a bug report for more help.

jrhillery,

I submitted a service request at the end of March and uploaded them one of my video files for testing. I got two responses back noted below.

"This an issue in Sage and will be fixed in future revision. Sorry for any incovenience." 03 April 2008

"We have fixed the issue for the next release of Sage. I just don't know exactly when that will be released." 08 April 2008

I have not tried the beta versions that are out to see if they fix the problem. I am interested to know if anyone has seen this problem fixed in the new beta versions.

Thumbs up

I am happy to report that beta 6.4.3 has fixed this problem. I installed 6.4.3 and caused SageTV to rescan the media folder holding my .mpg files (by removing, scanning, adding, scanning). My Sony Cyber-shot videos now work in SageTV.
