Newbie Questions
Hey everyone, new to both Sage 1.4 and 2.0 just started playing with it this weekend.
So, two questions, is there a max number of songs with SageTV 2.0. I have about 6000 mp3's (couple hundred ogg and some wma's which I know don't play). So when I pointed SageTV @ my music drive, which is on a SuSe box running Samba 2.2a I see it starts making a DB then it crashes, every time. I had to edit the sage.properties file and delete the entry for Z:\Music which fixed the problem with the crashing but not my tunes. It think the error might be here (maybe) Mon 1/26 22:32:24.081 Couldn't find MPEG audio syncword Mon 1/26 22:32:24.108 File is not a valid MPEG-2 PS/TS file...using standard file duration detection Also these errors were in the log An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM. Unexpected Signal : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION occurred at PC=0x1DA0E0B3 Function=DllUnregisterServer+0x3ED3 Library=E:\Platinum\mpeg2dmx.ax Local Time = Mon Jan 26 22:32:41 2004 Elapsed Time = 7 # # The exception above was detected in native code outside the VM # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.4.1_06-b01 mixed mode) # Well, so that's the end of my music problems. (which isn't a major deal to me anyway, XMMS does a fine job, just playing with different features). The other problem is the On Screen Display. The Menu is larger the my TV screen and I'm not sure how to make it smaller. Also if I start to screw with the OSD is crashes, and I have to reboot my computer since it will not display anymore to the TV. Information you might ask for. SageTV Windows Box Windows XP SP1 AMD XP 1600+ 256 DDR PC 2100 ECS K75SA Mobo Using the onboard sound and nic The windows box is connected to a Samba Box for storing and retrieving video's. Its Samba 2.2a running SuSe 9.0 with the 2.4 kernel. Hope this information is helpful to me or someone else. |

If you music is organized into folders, you might consider adding them one at a time to see if you can narrow the problem down to one type of file or even just one particular file.
As for the size of the OSD you might try playing with the overscan settings. t |

Other things to consider...
Samba 3.0 is out and I think your Java Client is old (1.4.2_03 is the latest). http://java.sun.com/getjava |
