slideshow video in sage
Vista 32 bit.
Wow, this is frustrating. Earlier this week I had my new install working like a charm. then some issues with some codecs cropped up, and I shifted some stuff around and now I'm in deep trouble. I also ran a reg cleaner. You see in windows everything works. All my files play brilliantly and smoothly. No problem whatsoever, even on heavy duty HD files. When I enter sagetv it wont play anything without heavy stutter. Now, I have every codec and renderer at default, which to my understanding should mirror the WMP setting. no luck. I then said, sod it, im giving sage a clean reinstall to fix it. no help, excact same problem. cant even get it to start the tv modules... Im thinking virus (scanned with kaspersky online - nothing)..harddisc trouble (full scan, nothing). Im at my wits end here guys. Ive tried loads of codec combination. ive even uninstalled my antivirus program. So before i press the proverbial Format C. and start over...give me your best shot - whats wrong? |

So, i've been randomly doing stuff for the last hour and I installed K-lite codec pack and uninstalled everything else.
this somehow made my live-tv watchable again. I can also play my dvd's and divx files. My MKV files wont work though. The problem is it still is very very slow. My files will eventually start and run reasobly well, but , and im blaming Sage currently. Everything work fine and fast when I play my files in other players, but somehow sage seems to use tons of power. |

damn, i think I have figured it out.
It seems that the event viewer is reporting defective blocks on my HD after all. sigh.. did a repair reboot, fixed the errors. When I started back up..2 minutes later it reports another defective block time to buy backup whats backupable, get a new HD and reinstall I suppose. |
