does it recognize the hauppage remote control?

I was searching through the forums yesterday and I could have sworn I saw mention somewhere that the Mac version supports the Apple remote and the Hauppauge 43 button remote. But now I can't find the reference.

Does the Mac version support any remote other than the Apple remote? Or do I have to purchase RemoteBuddy to get the builtin Apple IR receiver to see any other remote's signals?

Thanks
Greg

Two Hauppauge remotes are supported, the older silver 34 key and the newer silver 45 key remotes (ships with most Hauppauge hardware these days). You need to use their hardware (at this point, an HVR-950, MyTV/PVR or WinTV PVR USB2) or a USB-UIRT to make them work, they will not work with the built-in IR sensor if your Mac has one.

The Apple remote should also work, but I think the buttons might need to be mapped manually, look in Setup->Detailed Setup->Commands->Show SageTV Commands... to see if it's mapped or not. Then use the Link Infrared/Keystroke to SageTV Command to map them if they're not.

Ok, thanks. I was looking for something to work with the builtin IR receiver.

I guess I have to splurge for RemoteBuddy (www.iospirit.com/remotebuddy). I haven't tried it yet, but a friend of mine said it worked well.

I will get it on the weekend and let you guys know how it works.

Oops I was mistaken on what RemoteBuddy can do. From its FAQ:

Can I also use other remote controls than the Apple® Remote with the IR receiver of my Mac®?

No. The receiver does analyze the signals in hardware and does only seem to support the signals of an Apple® Remote (that of course includes programmable remotes that can exactly mimic the signals of the Apple® Remote).

This sucks it means that we have a nice IR receiver built into the mac and it is useless. Who in their right mind thinks that 6 buttons is enough?
