Rev 15 vs Rev 16.
I've heard numerous reports of trouble with different revision cards not working together harmoniously. How do I tell which revision my cards are? I currently have two PVR-250s, but one has an on-card composite input, while the other has a composite->svideo adapter.

From what I've read, it appears the main differences are in the chipset used: -15 chips have a heatsink, -16 chips don't. Past that, it seems there are about 4 bazillion different revisions...seems like Hauppauge must change 'rev' based on day of the week or something.
Some people have great luck getting -15 and -16s to work happily...I'm going to try and stack the deck in my favor and either (A) find another retail -15 to match my current card or (B) sell/trade my -15 and get two -16s. |

There is a good thread on www.shspvr.com that has pictures of the different cards, but the site is being slow so I can't find it at the moment. The biggest difference is that the 16's run cooler and don't need a heat sink.
My Rev 15 came with a black remote, has svideo adapter, and the card has a heat sink on it. My Rev 16 came with a silver remote with more buttons, both composite and s-video inputs, and no heat sink. |

Thanks everyone, looks like all three of the cards I have around are rev 15, as they all have heatsinks. One is quite a bit different than the others though, as it has composite input onboard as well as a daughterboard connector.
