|
QAM tuners like hte HDHomerun and Hauppauge's HVR-1600/1800 tunes will record unscrambled QAM cablel channels. there are no tuners that will record scrambled QAM channels. Unscrambled QAM will usually include your local digital channels and maybe a couple other cheapy channels. YOu will not be able to record the premium channels like HBO.
There is a new HD capture device coming in the hopefully near future from Hauppauge that will be able to record HD from your cable box via component cables. edit: look at this link, http://www.sagetv.com/requirements.html?sageSub=tv , for a list of supported ClearQAM tuners.
