Front Row and SageTV
..i'm hobbling this together, based on others abilities...
so, my goal this week is to get Sage Client/Placeshifter running through Front Row in 10.5 (Leopard adds an AppleTV type menu, and a PlugIns folder) #1 Find: http://garion.tzo.com/FrontRowPlugins/FrontMyth-0.2.pkg this installs a Front Row menu item for MythFrontend - its a start, and we have the source. http://code.google.com/p/frontpython/ #2 Find: FrontPython in its Myth setup is easily editable to launch any app on your mac: Download the plugin, install it.. Then edit the /System/Library/CoreServices/FrontRow.app/Contents/PlugIns/FrontMyth.frappliance/Contents/Resources/FrontPython.py file. Change any reference /Applications/MythFrontend.app to whatever your app is... Start FrontRow, and off you go. So? it clumsily works, i can launch Placeshifter from the new menu in Front Row, now i need to take the time to map "Command+ESC" to one of my remote keys to see if i can switch back and forth between Front Row and Sage. As far as i know the current incarnation of FrontPython is set just to switch back to Front Row when the secondary app is quit...

I'm going to try to put an hour or two towards it this weekend - getting from SageTV back into FrontRow is the sticking point...

So, i have ditched windows completely, shut down my XP box for the last time, and copied the wiz.bin over to the mac. its working well, recordings are fine, display is adequate - still working to get ac3/dts via SPIDF, but it'll come eventually. but the big news?
i got FrontRow and Sage working together very well!! the downside is that Sage controls the remote, so i need to use my bluetooth keyboard within FrontRow, but going back and forth between the two works very well.
