Setting up SageMC

I am trying to get sagemc installed and I believe I am following the instructions correctly.

when i go into advanced and choose the xml file. I click yes and the screen is all scrambled. Sometimes I can see the my tv, my music, etc back there others it is just a jumble of characters. When I close out I get a black screen and can see the temperature in the bottom right and the menu but it is froze. Any idea what I am missing here to get this installed?

Read this blog post. Half way down there's a how-to-install that takes you step-by-step through the process of installing SageMC. Check to be sure you followed those steps and if you think you did, tell me which step you got to before seeing this.

Make sure you downloaded the full installation package (here) for a first time installation. There is also an update package that only contains the files that changed in the last revision. You may have downloaded that one instead.

I just downloaded SageMC for the first time as well. I did the full version per the link above. After setting the xml file I get a black background screen with white labels, a circular cursor that looks hung. After a bit of waiting I realized that it wasn't hung and I could move around though it wasn't obvious as none of the white text changed color, some just got a little whiter. I can get to the SageMC options screen and move around in there (though it's tough as it's hard to tell which text block you're on) but I can't alter any of the settings. I tried the blog link above but it's a bad link. I can actually get into the music files and play a music with blind luck as it's not possible to tell which text I'm on. Any ideas?

Are you running the latest Java version?

You guys aren't trying to import SageMC are you? It should be loaded, not imported. What version of Java are you running? It should be v1.5+ and preferable the latest v1.6. Also, try shutting down and restarting the UI after loading SageMC. Some things may not get initialized correctly without a restart.

Is this normal behavior? When I go to MyTV I get the menu and a left mouse click will get me back to the main menu. But if I click on Live TV there's no way to get back to the main menu. I can right click to get to My TV but from there there's no way back to the Main Menu. If I hit the Left key it just goes back to Live TV. The only way to get out is to exit the program.

The same happens in My Menu. I get the Online Services, @email... list of options but there's no key/mouse click to get back to the Main Menu. Is this something that can only be done by a remote?

SageMC does not work well with a mouse. It was really meant to be controlled by a remote.

You can get a plugin from MeInMaui that works well for touchscreens and basic mouse functions. Here's a link

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I don't plan to use the mouse for long. I have a Harmony 550 coming so I'll have to figure out what to program to get it to do all the stuff it has to do.
