vistaview da-1n1-i can't tune channels

i had this card installed in my sage server, tuning only SD cable signals, and it worked fine.

now i've moved it to another computer, where i plan on running it as a network encoder, but i can't get it to work. i've tried the latest drivers (and some old ones) but no dice.

in each case, sage sees the card and reports 2 tuners - a "ViXs PureTV Analog Video Capture" and a "ViXS PureTV Capture". neither will tune any channels.

the preview window sits empty forever (wait wait wait). if i skip forward and select a cable provider, it will scan for and find 63 channels (very slowly), but then nothing shows up in the channel config screen.

i've played around with drivers for a while, and this isn't working anymore unfortunately, but at some point i was able to see a tuned channel in dscaler, the same channel on either tuner. i don't know how to use dscaler though, so i never tried to surf around at all.

the cable is plugged into the correct coax jack on the back. i tested it on a tv - it has good, clean signal.

once i get the analog SD part working maybe someone can clarify how to get some (if any available) OTA HD? is the 'non-analog' source ID'd above the HD tuner?

I had some headaches with this card too, and maybe I just misinterpretted its abilities. I was under the impression I'd be able to record both OTA and SD with it simultaneously. Well, I never could - Sage just won't work with the ViXs PureTV Analog Video Capture tuner.

So anyways, yes, you want to set up Sage using the ViXS PureTV Capture device, no matter which input you use. (If you get sage working with the analog one, please let me know, as I would like to).

OTA antenna into ATSC card input + ViXS PureTV Capture w/Digital TV Tuner = tune/record HD OTA channels
SD source into other coax or s-video input + ViXS PureTV Capture w/coax or s-video input = tune/record SD channels

You can actually do both of these, and it actually works. Though you can only record one or the other at a given time. You just can't access both inputs simultaneously.
Hope that made sense!

you're supposed to be able to record on both simulataneously - that's one of the features of this card (that it's a dual tuner card, not a hybrid).

however, I've never tried any of the digital/HD features because I don't have an HD set, or an HD signal, and Sage doesn't support QAM w/ this card. I'm okay with that, for now.

I've never seen the 'digital tuner' option until yesterday, when I installed a hacked HP driver for this card. now when I select the source to configure it, i get the choice of tv tuner, digital tuner, video-in, and a few others (all actually doubled for some reason... ie: tv tuner 1, tv tuner 2, digital 1, digital 2, etc)

I also have it working in dscaler again now, although it still will not lock into any channels, it only shows channel 2. i've tried autotuning, etc, no luck. tried changing from TV to DSS, and from Antenna to Cable, and HDC(?) to something else, but nothing changes.

Well I know its supposed to, but it doesn't in Sage. I had a couple other posts on here and had a sage support request, but none of them helped. I noticed people using gbpvr have it working though, so I dunno.

But digital tv tuner is the one you want to access the ATSC input. I have that with the normal driver for it. Not sure why you are getting 1 & 2, I just get a single one listed for each.

When you had SD working via the card - how did you have that set up? Which tuner did you use? The analog one, or the non-analog one?

i don't remember how i had it set up, unfortunately.

gbpvr has a patch to enable QAM support. sage doesn't, yet anyways.

DA-1N1-I Combo PCI Tuner Card

Hello,

Although this problem is not specific to SageTV, I just received the VistaView tuner card and I am having problems getting it recognized by any and all MCE and/or third party TV software applications at my disposal. I need to confirm whether or not this card is defective. The device managers show the card as working, but no tv software recognizes its presence. Besides Vista MCE and XP(MCE) I have tried BeyondTV and Media Portal 1.0 Could this be a tv signal issue (or lack of one). The coax is split and the lead to the tuner card is over 100 feet. VistaView (the manufacturer) suggest I reinstall the card which I did to no effect. Ncix (the supplier) suggesed I need a decoder pack. They recommended Windows Media Encoder which I installed and ran to produce a very weak signal through the coax that looked like OTA of CBC our stronger local signal, but that is all I have been able to get up to now. I find it odd that I would be viewing OTA through a coax cable that's supposed to have a cable tv signal on it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Scanning Channels

Hello,

I also have the VistaView DA 1N1-I card. I was mislead by an ad on the Net that said this should be a "great" card for XP(MCE) or Vista MC both of which I have but neither of which I can use because the card is actually totally incompatible with both! Beyond TV Trial works great but would cost 3 times to purchase what I paid for this card! VistaView support told me that GBPVR or MediaPortal are compatible with the card. I am already struggling with getting Media Portal to scan for channels or guides because I don't live in one of the 3 major Canadian cities listed in MediaPortal setup. I would like some help with GBPVR to get it to scan for channels in this area of Atlantic Canada. I know the channels so the guide is not a major issue. I tried Tuning Assistant and Config, but neither would start a scan for me. Thanks in advance for any pointers that might get me off the ground.
