Hmm, try submitting a bug report? Sage tech will make an effort to help if you submit one.

HDHOMERUN Power Supply

I can't say this is what is causing your issues, but it sure solved mine. It turns out the power suplpy on my HDHR was bad and was not powering teh HDHR adequately. I got anew powersupply from Silicon Dust and all my lock ups and freezes vanished... There is a red light on the power supply and it if its blinking at all youmight have the same issues.

Just thought I would mention it... BTW - this fixed my issues and I have been error free for about a month.

Bug report submitted yesterday. Dont have the HDHR, got an avermedia PCIe card. Dont know much about the HDHR, is it external(usb)? And are both of you using 6.3.10?
Strange thing is that I cant reproduce this on the server, only on my client.

I'm joining you in submitting a bug report. See if we can wake them up. I just tried 6.4.2 and it was even worse on my machine. I'm back to 6.3.6

Yeah, I submitted logs last night as well. 6.3.10 was fine for me, but my Extenders are freezing now with 6.4.2 and my sage server has gotten sick twice since installing it to the point that I have to reboot the system.

I'm working with Sage support now and though their first suggestion made things worse, it may have revealed the problem. They suggested is was my video decoder filter. I use the Hauppauge video filter.

Based on their suggestion, I changed it to the SageTV filter. Sage locked up immediately when I tried to watch my first show with the new config.

I restarted the machine, and changed the filter back to the Hauppauge one. Then I recalled a previous support call from 3 months ago. I had a problem where using FF/RW would occasionally cause me to drop audio. Sage had suggested changing my audio filter to ... the Sage audio filter. I believe my circle of death problem may have started around that time. It's difficult to be sure as I probably upgraded my version of Sage at that same time.

So I'm now going to use 6.4.2 with Hauppauge filters for both video and audio. i'll update if this does not succeed.

I was using the SageTV filters for audio and video. I have since moved to Hauppauge, but the problems remain.

The only other option I can offer up is that based on another thread I read a while back. There was a suggestion by Narflex to set the Java maximum heap size . My machine is rather starving for memory at 384MB so I set the heap to max out at 208MB (YMMV). It's entirely possible that the problem isn't related to any of the changes I've made and that the change itself simply coincidentally solves the problem by altering where things end up in memory. Who really knows ...?

And just to confirm, I haven't had the spinning circle of death so I'm crossing my fingers.

I've actually already tried the heap idea. While I haven't gotten the spinning wheel of death with the new settings I did get a video lockup and brief loss of audio. I will continue to monitor it.
