Change the stv in the client properties file

I tried to run a bad .xml stv file on one of my clients and now it wont get rid of it in the clients property files on the server. I have tried to change it manually and save but it keeps getting overwritten. I have even deleted both the properties file and the autobackup file. It still overwrites with the bad filename in the properties file. Any suggestions?

What type of client is this? And, what properties file are you trying to edit? You've exited that client before trying to change the properties file?

If you are logging in with a Placeshifter user + password, then the STV is determined by the one assigned to that user -- go to Detailed Setup -> Server -> Manage PS Users to reset the STV.

For a local PC connection w/o logging in , I think it will check the server's sage.properties for a default STV setting.

I guess you could consider an extender to act like a PS client that connects locally -- it would check its own properties file in the clients folder, then the server's sage.properties, then RemoteClients.properties.defaults. So, check its properties file & the server's file.

(But, in this case: RemoteClients.properties.defaults doesn't define a default STV; that setting is just built in as the default STV if nothing else is already in use.)

That reminds me -- another way to reset the STV is probably just to delete or rename the STV's .xml file so it can't be loaded. In that case, the default STV should be used instead.
