Any way to alphabetize video playlists?
I'm trying to organize imported videos in a way that will be easy for the wife to find stuff. Playlists such as Movie-Drama, and Movie-Comedy, etc would help, but it seems that playlist contents are limited to ordering them by the order added, with new additions always at the end. That pretty much renders them usless for organizing anything unless it's a static list that you never want to add anything to. Recreating a playlist every time you want to add something in the middle is annoying to the point of useless.
Is there some setting (or hack) that enables playlists to be sorted in a manner other than by the order added? |

You can re-order items in a playlist; they don't have to stay where they are added.
But, I'm not sure how putting things alphabetically in playlists helps organize the imports. How about just using a directory structure containing the videos & use the Folders view to navigate what's there? - Andy

The benefit of having playlists like this is that a single movie could appear in multiple lists, meaning that if a particular film could reasonanbly be called both a drama and a comedy, I could have them under both as opposed to guessing what the wife might call it. Or drama and action, or whatever categories I set up. Right now they are just all listed in a folder called Movies. There are 600+ titles there. It'd help if I could manage them a little easier. Alphabetized playlists would be perfect. How do you re-order the contents of a playlist? I don't see any way to do it from the normal interface. |
