I'm not sure Netflix broke it.. I think updating the SageTV online video to the latest version may have broke it.. question is, what did it do and can I go back to an earlier version? I certainly want Netflix to work a hell of a lot more than I care about google video or youtube.

Nope you did not break it. It has not worked for me for a few days and I did not do anything. So I think it is netflix!

I had something interesting happen to me yesterday; things changed for me, but in the other direction. I had not been able to play a movie using this plugin for about a week, then suddenly the "watch now" button started appearing again for me. I'm sure I've made no changes in the past week to my client. Is it possible that Netflix reverted back from some of the changes they had made that had previously broken this pugin. Still can't organize/add/remove from my queue, but I never really did that from Sage anyways, It's the watch instantly that I care about. And now that's working again. Anyone else have this happen to them?

OK, now no one touch anything

I noticed that too yesterday, but clicking the Watch Now or Download for Later buttons don't do anything for me with the movies that are in my Instant Queue. Clicking Watch Now on movies that aren't in my queue gives me an error that it can't add the title to my instant queue.

On a side note, the movies that I did download previously using the Download for Later button, when the plugin was working, still play for me. And they even play with the original NetFlix Player. I never converted to or installed Silverlight on my server and the old NetFlix Player still works. But I'm sure if I try to play a movie from IE, I'll be forced to 'upgrade' to Silverlight.

Working for me now too. I took someone's upthread experience to heart and updated to IE8 since I'm running Silverlight these days. That seems to have taken care of pretty choppy playback and major audio sync issues compared to using IE7.

Picture quality isn't exactly astounding, but hey, it's good to have it working again. For now.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I'm getting a bit lost in the thread here... I played one video with the silverlight option. I didn't like it as it was really sluggish and slow and tried to switch back to customplayer. Nothing happens when I try that. This is a known issue right? Because netflix forces people to use silverlight after they start?

Also, is there a way to minimize the silverlight player bar at the bottom of the screen? I don't see a way to trigger full-screen mode from the remote (Hauppage Silver).

I don't think you can go back from using silverlight once you start using it.

Just to recap, I haven't gotten the latest Silverlight from Microsoft, and I'm working pretty well, accept one thing.... the search function does return any results.... picking the genre/sub-genre will bring up lists of those titles, but the search function does not return any results. I have tried multiple searches of titles I know are in the watch database, but nothing...

playing works fine titles I can find works great.

Any ideas?

While some features like Search still do not work for me, most of the menu items now do work, including some that didnt even work when I first installed the addon. Not sure why - but I'm loving it.

Could someone sum up the current status of this plug-in?

I currently have the latest non-Silverlight version that was working fine up to my last (a few weeks ago). Although I can see all the ques now, the "Watch Now" button does nothing on non-downloaded movies and the movies I have already cached do not seem to play due to inability to get a DRM permission.

Would upgrading to Silverlight get this functioning or are we currently at an impass?

This Netflix plugin is a work in progress - and as far as I know still works.

But you might want to check out this addon currently in alpha/beta. It does Hulu and Netflix although it does require PlayOn to work.

I'm still regretting it to this day for upgrading to silverlight. No matter what, I can't get that smooth flowing panned scenes with Sliverlight. Its slightly jumpy, even on a quad core 2.4GHz Intel with a fast display adapter and 50mbps download speed. I dont have weird video issues like that when doing full screen highdefinition you tube videos. I even upgraded to Silverlight 3 from Silverlight 2.x. I know Im definitely not the first person to see this kind of video after going from the previous generation to Silverlight. Maybe one day there will be a magic fix.

Thanks. Sounds like Silverlight is the only thing working and perhaps not even up to snuff for some. Perhaps the new PlayOn thing is the way to go, especially for $10.

I second this. But I would point you to this thread: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44382.
I've been pleased with the loop-back hack netflix, but this new playon-based hack is working great and (will be) worth the $30 playon license - although they have a 14 day trial which is what I'm currently using to test things out.

And now there's this other brilliant solution by EvilPenguin.

I would think that the playon solution may obsolete the playback aspect of this import; BUT, this import still has a great deal of merit - or even more so now with the playon plugin. Browsing thru netflix available movies and managing user queues is a great plugin by itself.

In addition, I think this stvi will lay some great groundwork for the future "Hulu Queue Manager" stvi
