Quick question regarding Fios and needed Hardware

Howdy all,

First post!

I have a quick question. I am about to move to a new neighborhood that has Verizon Fios which I'm pretty excited about. I plan on using an HDhomerun tuner, Sage running on a CQC server, and a media extender distributed over a matrix switch to 3 TVs (might get a second extender if I want to be able to watch on two TVs at once). My question is whether I need any hardware from Verizon. Do I have to put something between the HDhomerun and the Fios feed?

In general, will this setup work? Am I correct that the media extender does all of the heavy lifting, and thus no burden will be put on the server other than to stop media? I'm pretty psyched at the potential of these media extenders if this is so.

Thanks a ton,

Target

If all your using the the HDHomerun then you shouldn't need anything in between the HDHomerun and the coax feed from the wall. I have FIOS and I get the locals in HD and SD and thats about it. If you want to capture all of the SD channels then you will need a SD STB from verizon, and a capture card to get it all.

Yeah, I have Fios too, and am tuning QAM with my HDHR's. You need as many cable boxes, and SD tuners (maybe Component in the near future) as Cable Box level channels you plan to have, like HBO, Discovery, CNN, SciFi et....... The HDHR tuners take the HD and SD local stations only.
