Resume DVD playback hangs SageTV
Sometimes when I go to resume playback after watching a DVD, Sage hangs on the 'Initialization' section of playback.
Remote becomes unresponsive, and CTRL+ALT+DEL & killing Sage is the only way to get control back. If I choose to 'Restart DVD' instead of 'Resume', then all is fine. I play from ripped DVD's from my collection as straight DVD-video (VOB's, etc) Any ideas please ? Using latest SageTV 6.3.8 and SageMC 6.3.7 , PowerDVD 7.3 decoder, AC3Filter, VMR9. Have also tried Sage 6.3.5, and SageMC 6.3.6b with the same problem. |

Do you have another video (or audio) decoder you can try? I've done that a number of times, but I use nVidia's decoders.

In addition to trying a different decoder: try using a different renderer (VMR9 vs. Overlay) and make sure you aren't using a secondary monitor for playback. Some decoders still don't like secondary monitors.

Thanks for the replies.
After troubleshooting heaps: The Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.3 decoder causes the hanging on resume playback Changing to Purevideo Nvidia Decoder .223 fixes this. * MCE doesn't exhibit these problems with PowerDVD decoder. Unsure why Sage does... ? ==== P4 3.2Ghtz, 2G RAM, Nvidia 6600GT-latest drivers, 4x Digital Tuners, SageTV 6.3.8, latest SageMC. |

at least you can get resume to work... tried it 3 times this weekend on the HD100 and it restarted at the beginning every time.

OK, tried more decoders as suggested by the Nvidia website.
Summary: Arcsoft, WinDVD, Cyberlink decoders all cause SageTV to hang on dvd resume. Nvidia Purevideo works fine. It is the only one thus far that works. ======== Latest beta SageTV, Latest SageMC, Nvidia 8600GS. |
