issue getting SageTV to see a WHS share

I've recently set up a WHS server, and want to move all of my music and videos (library, not recordings) to the \\Server\Music and \\Server\Videos UNC shares. However, when I try and get Sage to add these folders, it tells me 'Directory \\Server\Music does not exist, would you like to create it?'.

Now, on my SageTV server (different box from the WHS server) I can navigate to the shares just fine using explorer, so that's not the issue.

Anyone seen this? any thoughts?

Ok, found the problem-
I needed to run the service as a user recognized by the WHS- I just chose to run as .\Administrator, which is common between both servers.

I have the same problem, but I dont understand how you fixed it. Could you or someone else please explain in a little more detail how you run the service as a user recognized by the WHS.

Many Thanks

Ben

edit: It appears that I've read this wrong and my problem is the other way around. I have Sage setup on a WHS box and want to view content from another box running XP. Any help would still be greatly appriciated.

Make sure whatever user your logged into on the xp box is a valid user on WHS or you will not see anything.

Thanks for the quick reply but...

I dont get it

Heres what I've done.

I've created a new user on the XP box whch is where all my media files are stored. I then log out of the old account and into the newly created user.

On the WHS box I goto the console and add a new user account using the same login details as the XP box which I've just logged into.

Next start up Sage and goto the Media Import Directories and add \\jaminbenserver\movies 1.

Then all I get is 'Directory \\Server\Music does not exist, would you like to create it?'

If i uninstall the WHS version of Sage then install a regular version (SageTV_V6_3_5Setup.exe) I can setup all the directories just fine, so I dont understand what I'm doing wrong for a WHS version.

Cheers

Ben

Ben,

Sorry I can't help with that one. I have not installed the WHS version yet I am still playing with it.

Why is it looking for a Music directory if you are importing a movie directory?

I thought so...I am waiting for my new card and extender to get here before I install sage on WHS so you will probably have it figured out by then.

When you create a WHS server the default workgroup for it is Home. I'm assuming your XP box has a default workgroup of "workgroup". Make sure you log in as administrator and have the boxes be in the same workgroup. (Change oine or the other.) Then as the administrator create the same user on both boxes and put the user in the Administrator's group. Now make sure you share the directory and give users the right to edit the files. Make sure the UNC path has the \\server name\share\directory if you're sharing at the directory level.

Damm,

And I just changed that without even thinking about it when I installed WHS. That was a good catch.
