6.3.8 on WHS - SageTV service crashes

Have run the 6.3.8 on WHS for about 30 hours - SageTV service has crashed twice.

Event viewer shows: "Faulting application SageTVService.exe, version 6.0.13.1, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0001bd02."

WHS console shows SageTV service running - click the stop button and get the popup message "The SageTV service is already stopped"

Bug submitted, will now revert back to 6.3.7. Never seen such behavior with SageTV before, WHS installation has been rock stable (and I have used several beta versions).

My first thought is that your problem must have been a different one since the first crash occurred while watching a show on the Hauppauge WinTV500 (analog) - but you are probably right! The first crash occurred when a DVB-S recording also was about to start, and the second one while watching a DVB-S channel just after tuning into it.

Upgraded to 6.3.8 again, downloaded and dropped the TSSplitter.ax in the SageTV directory (did I do that part correct?). Sadly - SageTV service crashed again after second DVB-S channel tuning. So - problem is is definitively DVB related - but the fix does not help me (provided I dropped the file the right place).

I'm pleased to run a WHS installation - reverting back to previous SageTV installs is really easy since I have not removed the latest *.msi files from the Add-Ins share. Stepped back to the 6.3.6 since I've also had some freezing spinning wheels lately.

Anyway - thanks for the advice!

oaamaas,

I think you want to place it in the common directory (which is in the same level as the sagetv directory) as you will find the original file there.

Good luck.

Yes, you have to drop it in the commen folder. Fixed the crash/restart thing for me. At least so far.

Yepp! The crash problem was indeed resolved by dropping the file in the right place. But 6.3.8 gave me additional problems - channels tune fine, but picture now freezes every other second on all DVB-S channels. While the TSSplitter.ax provided by Quain may have solved the problems with Hauppauge HVR-4000 it does not do the trick with my WinTV NOVA HD S2. So I'm back to the 6.3.6 for now, at least on the server.
Thanks again, everyone!
