New user question on file sizes and performance

Guys,
I just started using SageTV and I have a few OTA HD shows recorded. Tonight I copied one of the shows (CSI Miami) to my low end Compaq Presario 2100 laptop and attempted to watch the file using WMP 11. My laptops CPU was running 80-90% and the video was jerky at times. Is my laptop just too low end to be able to stream this much data?

My next question is, will the Hi Def extender have trouble streaming these feeds via a 10/100 network cable? This video "stuff" is all new to me so any help is welcomed and appreciated.

What processor is in that laptop? Decoding HD takes a good bit of horsepower, generally figure 2GHz CPU to be on the safe side for OTA HD.

Nope, the extender is a 100Mbps box, so 100Mbps network will be fine (10Mbps won't).

Thanks Stanger89. That's what I was thinking. My laptop is a mobile AMD Athlon XP2400+ 1.79 GHz. It works just a bit jittery.
