Question for those using HVR-1600 for QAM
How is your picture quality compared to OTA? I am using mine OTA and have been very happy with it. However, I would like to add another and I'm concerned about splitting from my antenna. I could use and amplifier, but if QAM looks just as good, it would take less RG-11 to do that.
Thanks, BT

I have 2 1600's that I've just boxed up to RMA because of the poor QAM performance. They could only tune 4 channels while my HDHomeRun picks up 12. The 4 they did tune were very pixelated.

I was concerned with that. I only have one currently and with OTA, I had to get a pretty beefy antenna to tune all of my stations well. I had heard that the HVR didn't have the best HD tuning.
Thanks for the info. BT

Never had a problem with mine, picks up all the normal channels with no real problems. I'll agree it's not the strongest tuner, when I had it pulling OTA it was more suseptable to interference, but no problems finding them.
QAM is very picky about connection quality. I had perfect reception on the 1600 but my TV would only get some of them. Turned out to be a loose cable connector.
