Absolute Newbie

Here is my problem: I've installed Sage TV 6.0 and Win TV. I have purchased Sage TV and the Win TV HVR-1600 legitimately. I have scanned the website for fixes, but my dilemna is this..... The resolution to my ACER 19" screen is horrible. Very Grainy and pixelated. I have tried some of the results from the website, but the problem persists. i have an e6600 processor on this box and an ATI x3000 video card. 2 GB of system ram.....Why is the screen quality so bad??? I will admit, I know nothing of TV on PC.. Please just a little guidance. Or even better, a search on this forum.

You should try changing the Decoder Filter located under Settings/Detailed Settings/Video. There's some other settings there also you could change to modify the quality.

SOme questions:

1) ARe you using the Analog input of the HVR card - if you are standard tv is only 720x480 - same as DVD but the quality is no where near as good. So depending on what resolution your running on your 19" screen you'll see pixels.

2) If your viewing HD OTA on the card or QAM - that would either be 1280x720 or 1920x1080 - I would doubt you would see pixels.

You could try different decoders as the Sage one as mentioned above is not best it does not smooth very well.
