Real time adjustment of AC3 and other audio filters
Is there a way to do this? I am fiddling with AC3 playing a DVD thru the Sage interface (the AC3 config window is open), and although there are adjustable sliders for all 5.1 speakers, I don't here the level change in real time.
Can this only be done via open-adjust-close listen, or is there a real time audio filter to use instead of AC3? does that makes sense? |

If you bring up the AC3Filter config dialog from the Start Menu, you're just changing the defaults. If you bring it up from the system tray while playback is in progress, you're changing the current settings for that playback, and should hear the results almost instantly (modulo buffer delays).

There's a checkbox on the System tab to enable the tray icon.
If you still can't get it to work, make sure you're using a recent version of AC3Filter. The older version that shipped with Sage V5 and earlier didn't handle the tray icon very well. Newer versions (including the one that ships with current versions of Sage) have this fixed.

hmmm . . . maybe I'll uninstall and re-install, cause' even though I selected the "show tray" icon, and re-booted - no go.
thanks - at least I know it's possible. The rear channels seem a little weak thru this filter, hence - adjustment. |

Are you sure AC3Filter is actually being used? Have you enabled the appropriate audio formats on the System tab? Do you have Prefer AC3Filter selected?
Try opening a recording in GraphEdit to see what filters get loaded. If AC3Filter isn't one of them, you may need to do some more configuration tweaking. Note also that if you configure AC3Filter for SPDIF passthrough, then none of the software gain controls will work, i.e. the signal will just be passed through unmodified to your receiver. (But you should still see the tray icon in this case.)
