picture not centered?
Like many, I'm looking at Sage to convert from BTV. I've used BTV for a few years and this past year I set up a full MC with a server and several network clients, using three DirecTV receivers and two USB HD tuners. For the most part, it works ok, but lack of integration with Beyond Media and frequent lockups while running BM with BTV Link has the WAF (wife acceptance factor) at an all-time low.
I have Sage set up with the multiple tuners and such--really pretty easy. The only thing I'm really having an issue with is the picture not being centered and not filling out the screen. The picture is a little smaller than the TV screen and appears to be to the top right just a bit. I tried adjusting it with the red arrows in the corner and I tried adjusting it using the "make the circle round" section--I've been all over the app and can't remember what those things are called, sorry. I've tried all the different settings such as Fill, 4:3, Source, etc. It does this with the Placeshifter client on my laptop and on my Dell plasma, both of which are wide screens. The display is fine in Windows and the only thing I had with BTV was a small void at the bottom below the video, probably half what I have with Sage. With Sage, for example, on my plasma I have about and inch on the left and bottom, and a half inch on the right. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions? |

You can adjust the horizontal and vertical shift in the aspect settings. I am not near my SageTV machine, but check the manual. You can customize different settings for Horizontal/Vertical shift and overscan for each aspect ratio

Hey mrwolf
It might be that your aspect ratios could do with some adjustment. In sagemc (you are using sagemc right ) you can access these while viewing video by pressing ctrl-o to bring up the options dialog. ![]() From here make sure you have the aspect ratio that you want to edit selected then choose "Edit aspect ratio". ![]() From here you can change the scaling and offset. The same should work in the stock stv. I'm just not sure what it looks like without switching back. Mick. PS: Good luck with the switch. Edit: doh, djseto beat me to it

Thanks for the info. 2 min after I posted I realized I was and idiot--part of the problem was adjusting the centering of the picture on the TV itself. I'll try these suggestions and see it I can further improve it. So far, I really like what I see in SMC. I haven't taken time to figure out how/if the Firefly remote works with it and how to customize it. It looks like it does most functions by default. I'll hunt around before asking more stupid questions.
